I took your advice on another video. in Odessa Tx I stood outside early in the morning at a gas station and asked ever rig welder if they knew any one that needed a helper and it worked nested day I started working on a 4" pipeline. Love your video thanks for your advice it really worked.

I’ve never worked the oil field but this is exactly how it works for chasing shutdowns out here. You gotta get in contact with someone who knows something and follow out the leads until you wind up at a superintendents office shaking their hand too. Great video Jake! Some of those "thuggish" types were harassing everyone coming in offering to weld their rear doors on sedans for a more"aerodynamic" feel or alternatively the passenger side door or trunk and they're just committing downright extortion when I see elders leaving with their coupe yet I know they came in a sedan to fill up and all sorts of pipes and odd and ends welded to the roofs. But really be careful around the 'topers round these parts. They're the kids who are enriching Uranium 235 into isotopes of U-238 to sell to hostile Arab foreign nations. It's serious biz, a wonderful couple we had over for dinner for years were just found to have caught their son by finding a trap door in his closet leading to an underground 73 acre centrifuge and selling to his arms dealers around the globe. Be wary of topin rap and check on your kids every year

Business cards! Get some nice (the more memorable the better) looking business cards, and carry a stack with you everywhere you go. Keep some in your truck so you can replenish your supply if you run out.

Tip 5 should be make sure that phone is a 2 way street. Nothing worse than the guy who always calls looking, but never calls to tell you he’s got something or answers when your looking.

I'm probably gonna watch more but I've handed out my number to plenty welders that are from where in from while I had a truck and they all where like yeah I said I'll help I wanna learn to weld but helpin is awesome , I now wanna save up buy a Cummins or a Duramax older and go out and look in the nearest States for helping jobs or any type id love to learn to lay a beat better I haven't welded a pipe and want to learn my angles I don't have the money to go to a big ass school or nothing I don't have a GED I dropped out cus of a wreck I had and tried to get my GED found working is alot better then learning ... Hands in learning is better . Thank you

man charly im guessing you probably have a family to keep fed so i would probably go to night courses that offer pipe welding courses then start welding single hand once you have figured it out. that way you can keep working and providing then you can go do what you want.
