Love the polyphia shirt bro, and honestly my back gains have been slacking cuz of lack of grip strength. I think doing pullups till failure right off rip and then hitting the row machines is my issue. I'm gonna hit back today and save the pull ups for last as they really do tire out that grip strength.
@MrEysox2 жыл бұрын
I've got the same problem and I'm doing pull ups first. The thing is if I do pull ups at the very end of my back trainig session, I won't even be able to do 4 x 4 pull ups lol
@jtowey142 жыл бұрын
@@MrEysox I recently tried hand grips for the first time on the lat pull down machines from 115lb 4x12 to 160lb 3x8 and I couldn't believe how much emphasis was placed on my back as opposed to my forearms. I couldn't even pull the bar fully down without the grips at that weight previously lol. I always would joke that back day is forearm day and I didn't realize how much using a closed grip was limiting my back activation. I'm definitely gonna keep using the grips for very heavy loads to keep my back development on point and I recommend them for certain excersises.

@fraternovaeres3 жыл бұрын
I must be a framelet, because I feel fantastic lat engagement when I use the neutral grip v-bar handle on my low cable rows. You mentioned at the beginning of the video that you want to avoid pulling your elbows too far back when targeting the lats, because that will shift the tension to your rear delts. So, given that the close grip v-bar prevents you from pulling your elbows super far back, I would think that makes it an ideal grip for targeting the lats. That's how it feels when I use it, anyway.
@max-cs4pz2 жыл бұрын
Agree to that. The V grip gives me far better feeling in my lats than wide grips. I still use both nevertheless
@benjamartinez7042 жыл бұрын
Agree.. and disagree with the whole "this grip is garbage" definition in the video
@maxpowers44362 жыл бұрын
@@max-cs4pz Thats because v grip is a neutral grip and neutral grip engages lats 10x more as this video has said. Wide grip LPD don't actually engage the lats well. I’m a year late but the v handle is awesome, spam v bar pull downs, get a full squeeze at the bottom by touching your chest, keep your elbows in close throughout the range and stretch your lats at the top without letting your shoulders move up, Finish your last set with partials. I use this as a second movement on back day once I already have a pump.

Do you have any tips for feeling your back? everytime is workout my back i can only feel it in my biceps and forarms, many people have suggested to use lower weight and slower and higher reps but i still can feel my back for whatever reason (And i do use straps)
@claybowman1242 Жыл бұрын
@@JebrilKessler what was most important for me was just trying a bunch of movements out until some felt good, for me it’s pull-ups, chest supported dumbbell rows, v bar pulldowns, dumbbell pullovers, some machines work nicely too, this could be different for you entirely. As for cues, thinking about driving your elbows back is the best one, finally sensation isn’t always necessary, just cause you don’t feel your back doesn’t mean it’s not working, it’s very likely if you do everything with good form and slowish negatives you’ll eventually feel it once you find the right movements.

I could not agree with your last point more Eugene. Far to many are still preaching dangerous, subpar, and outdated compound movements like BB and DB rows when in fact cabled machines will build you a better back 10 times out of 10. The ONLY back exercise I do with DBs are the rows where you lay chest down on a incline bench and do high rows for your upper back. I use lighter weights and straps and the contractions are amazing. All you need is pull ups and cabled machines. My back has never looked better at 30 until I did nothing but pull ups and cabled machines. Great video. Save your lower back for your squats and deadlifts folks.
