Ughhh I am going through that stage where everyone is on my case about why my son is not potty trained still... I really wish people would just mind their own business. Nothing is truer than what you said at the beginning: every child reaches their milestones at their own time.

Same. I hate when people compare their kid to mine. Like “‘my kid was potty trained at 18 months” 😒 It’s hard to not answer back with a “well good for you” lol My daughter is 3 and we are giving it a third try on potty training. We are on day 1 today which is why Im here. People can’t get off my case, it feels horrible to hear people’s opinion on potty training at a certain age and hearing even more that 3 is too old.

all of these comments makes me feel so much better. My story is very similar to many people on here including feeling that I'm a failure as a mom which when I read other people say the same thing seems absolutely ridiculous. I'm a pediatrician and I know better than many people that kids develop at their own pace and they all have their own personality so why should we feel that we are failures because we are raising little people with their own personalities? Feel like someone commented earlier people are all too thrilled to give you advice that you didn't ask for about your child

Interesting many of the comments are about 3-3.5 yr old boys, as is ths case with my little 3.5 yr old boy. I wonder why? Everyone says they will do it when they are ready but its considered "a delay" if not potty trained by the age of 4 soooooooo, yeah I'm concerned he isnt going to "go when he is ready" and not be considered "delayed"

My son was potty trainer within 3 days but suddenly he realised that we were spending more time in bathroom than playroom and suddenly all effort was gone. Soon we gave up after ccidents after accidents. Now he is exactly 3.3 years old. I have same plan to try this summer break without give up. Thank you for sharing your story with your lo. This will be very helpful.

Thank you for leaving all the details on what worked for you guys. My 3.5 year old son is so resistant, hates stickers, hates the potty monkey companion, could care less about his big boy pants. He does enjoy the potty books, I guess that’s something. And 9/10 times he’ll sit and go potty first thing in the morning if I can catch him quickly enough after he wakes up. Your tips at the end were eye opening! I’m going to try them and stick with it 🤞For reference, I worked in toddler care for 5 years in the past and trained a dozen kids to use the potty. So when I became a parent and got such a resistant child, I was so confused haha

both my boys I've aimed for 3 because preschool age they need to be potty trained and it's my kick starter to really take it seriously. Prior it's just been sitting on the potty now and then since 2 and he's comfortable with it but neither boys really took it seriously until i did the over drive/ full energy chasing them around the house for a week, forcing them to sit on the potty, tears, frustration.... and each boy has not been pleasant to make them completely control their bladder outside of the house.

Stumbled upon your video because I just don’t know what to do. We live in the US, my son will be 3.5 years old next month (September) when he starts Preschool. We’ve been going through similar situations as with you and your son and your video has truly given me hope. I know the day will come but I just needed someone outside my circle to tell me that everything will be okay because the pressure can really get to you as a mom. It was so easy with our daughter. It was rough in the beginning with her but she got it within 3 days and just in time for when her brother (our now 3 year old) was born. Everyone keeps telling us that boys are easier to train than girls but that’s clearly not our experience as of yet lol 😅 but thank you so much for sharing your experience with your son and inspiring us potty training moms ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you for sharing your story, in-spite of knowing you'd receive criticism. I'm in the exactly same situation. I had a 3 week old and a 2 year old who wasn't interested at all in potty training. He just turned 3 and we are finally feeling he's ready. The pressure from others and the mom shaming is ridiculous. I've had people make comment around me, who don't have children, how incredible another mom is because she's on top of things with her children potty training by 2. The mother, this childless person, was referring to has girls and try to make me feel as though we were just being lazy. Not knowing we had tried but just refused to make our son and ourselves miserable trying to potty-train before he was ready. I'm so glad I found your video!! Gives me the courage to ignore the comments and start this next stage without feeling like I'm a bad mother.

My story is seriously just like yours! My son is also named James! And he is exactly 3 years and 2 months today!! My problem is still, that he just has zero interests in losing the diapers. He doesn’t care if he soils his pants. And the last round we tried potty training, he acted like going to sit on the potty was some sort of bad thing, like a punishment that interrupted his play time. And it just left me sooooooo very stressed out! I made it 1.5 weeks straight. But it was literal hell. Pee all over the house and I was so on edge!! We tried berries and sugar free chocolate for rewards, and he liked those... but still just couldn’t care less. :( That was about 1.5 months ago now. So for 1, I’m terrified to try it again. And 2, when do I try again?

I have a 3 year 4 months old boy and he has similar issues.. he does wee in the toilet ( for a couple of months now with barely any accidents) but he completely refuses to do potty in the toilet.. I have tried almost everything including bribing him for his favorite stuff but all efforts are in vain.. he does potty only when we put his diapers on at night time ( and that too by standing somewhere in the corner of the room) I have been trying to put him on the potty seat everyday where he sits and listens to us but will never poop in the potty. I don’t really understand what’s going on in his mind because he can control his potty even for 2 days if we don’t put his diapers on.. so ultimately for his healthy bowel movement we put his diaper on whenever he asks for it ( which he always does when he feels the pressure in his belly). Let me know if you have any ideas to share so that we can overcome his barrier..

But you know it's true though. TBH, I'd even say it to your face if you were here 🙃

@@pawpatrolnews you're saying that because you KNOW VERY WELL that there's no chance you'd see me in person. You sound very simple minded and slow yourself. Highly intelligent people do not make assumptions or meddle with things they do not completely comprehend. Good Luck to you :)

Hopefully my daughter gets out of her nappy before 2 years. I think 3 years is too old to wear a nappy.

In our case, that’s when he was ready. I’m glad I didn’t force him before. Best of luck for your daughter! 😊

@Team Queen’ s Fearn Tucker and Bentley Forever well that is a little bit harsh to say but I agree. You don't have to wait for the baby, you have to make the baby to like the potty and not the nappies. I always see moms at the park with children in nappies and with their thumb sticked in their mouth while thei wait to have their nappy changed, and this little girl was 4 or 5.. it was kind of discusting..

Every child is different and some have issues that keep them from hitting milestones like an "average" child. No mom wants their child in a diaper at that age. Its not right to judge them.

How do you know this little girl didn’t have a mental disability? It’s not your place to judge others. Especially on something so personal as potty training.
