Hi Wes, as a Brit, I can tell you that it's increasingly common in the UK for people to use "who" instead of "whom". I would not be surprised if in the next ten to twenty years, we lose the use of "whom" altogether except for formal prose.

Greetings, Wes! I have a question. Is it wrong to use 'it' for a baby? I've seen the grammar books stress on such a singular gender neutral pronoun while referring to non-living things and animals. So, what do you think?
@InteractiveEng2 жыл бұрын
Good question. I would probably avoid it. If you're unsure of the gender, I'd refer to it as "the baby." At least that's why I do personally. 👍

Who vs Whom **SIMPLE TRICK If you can replace the Word with "he" or use WHO. If you can replace the word with "him" or "her," use WHOM.

Glad to see u r still teaching n recommending that people follow the correct rules of grammar when using who n whom. Nowadays most people use who only when whom is the correct form. As one of your viewers said earlier soon whom may disappear. That will sad.

Tnx Wes. Using 'he or she', when we wanna talk about a neutral gender is personally a little bit frustrating for me. Because it takes long. I have a question, Can we use 'their' instead of specified possessive pronouns, like we use 'they' for Gender-neutral? I sometimes use it. But I wanna make sure that is correct to use. P.S. Immediately after seeing your video on KZbin I clicked on that to watch it. Whenever I see you posted a new video, I become so flattered.

From Gustav: Oeople who speak English always insult Germans and the language, but German has no confusion and no Problem with who or whom and neun gender. My friend is masculine noun, Baby is Neuter. You use the nouns for masculine and neutral. It matches with thee noun. It is not insult to say he (er) when thar noun is masculine. Is about the NOUN gender, not the persons.
