I love everything unless it restricts me from using what skills I have. I love all kinds of science because it's the study of how we work. And yes Chem is essential because chemistry is the study of what everything is made of and how they interact you need that to understand how that creates a system

Dang the "more chemistry" portion really messed me up. I am currently a Biology major ex Biochemistry major because I realized how much I loved Biology while chemistry overall bored me and was a means to an end. I also love multiple disciplines of biology (micro, physiology, genetics, etc.) so at the beginning hearing that Biotech had multiple focused disciplines I was like "FINALLY I FOUND WHAT'S RIGHT FOR ME as I've been struggling to pick a single discipline for a career and pursue in grad school. Knowing that it's primary chemistry (which makes sense) really crumbled my path to sanctuary and now I'm back to square one. But, I do appreciate the transparency at least now know before pursuing it and then becoming depressed because it's not what I wanted to focus on. I really just don't have a passion for chemistry and can't relate to it as much as biology but in order to do what I want to do in the world of biology it requires a strong primary foundation of chemistry. The dilemma of me.

U r not thr only one. A friend of mine had the exact same problem, and then she dropped out and found a great traineeship and became a lab assistant, and is much happier now.... I would recommend everyone in your place to do what u did, just change your major or your academic path, instead of sitting on it till the bitter end and scattering your mentalhealth over smthing u dont really like..... Great for you man, and wish u all the very best for ur future carrier....👍 And really glad to hear that u got smthing out of this video😃

This is literally how I feel rn I'm currently a biology major in my 2nd year going into my spring semester and my biology grades have been subpar but my chem grades have been worse. I tried aiming to become a doctor but now I have lost it and it comprised my mental health as well. I'm trying to figure out biotechnology or bioengineering cause right now I have test anxiety and I have an interest in the chem and bio but my grades don't translate it. I don't understand what to do

@@BT.ed9 yeah i decided after talking to my advisors to try the biotechnology route. I still am in the same classes but I feel like although grades are not there I can work on them and improve them. I just think that this career is also a highly profitable career comparable to the doctor with masters. I think I'm gonna take my time and enjoy it and aim for this career

hello. First of all, I would just like to say thank you for making this video. It gave me an inside into biotech since it's something I just recently considered taking for my degree. So here's my dilemma, I've been given an offer to either continue my bachelors degree in Chemical engineering or Biotechnology. I actually applied for MBBS but was rejected and was given the offer of Biotechnology instead. I've done a bit of research on the requirements and what is to be expected academically. However, Im still unsure about its future prospect. Like whether it'll be relevant or high in demand in the future. and whether itll pay well. Cause Ive always been more inclined in Science (bio,chem,physics) rather than maths which is why Im hesitating on taking the chemical engineering offer. I know that we should always follow what your passionate about, but what im truly passionate about got rejected😂💁‍♀ So might as well pursue something that gives better prospect.

First of you can go to medical school with biotech degree. Second of all, as long as earth exist biotech will become more relevant each year. Chech about the history till date how the field has been developing greatly. Believe me if you've done more research and to the way the world is going ,biotec will always be a demanding job. I'd say go for it,I had a degree in economics now switching to biotech. Note: I studied chemistry, physics, maths and bio in high school.

There has been an oversight on my Part here.... I apologize..... Biotech will always be in demand. And carrier prospects are good but obviously different then human medicine. U might get paid different, but it depends on alot of other factors like the biotech industry etc. (U can check the Video, on this topic). But u font get paid as well as an MD. Chrmical engineering has alot of maths structured in it, but so does that biotechnology in most cases. But its basic maths, u wont have to do alot of high level maths, so i would recommend biotechnology to thosr who are hesitant cuz of maths.... Basic calculus and statistics and u r good..... Hope this was helpful👍
@BT.ed9
@BT.ed9 Жыл бұрын
As far as i know, u can only work in the lab, and maybe do some training(smthing like a traineeship). But u cant study Human medicine with a biotech degree. Maybe there are some exceptions, but i m not sure abt whether u can go to med school with a biotech degree. Btw. U can go to med school, and study biotechnology or similar fields, like medical technology etc. (Cuz of some have the departments structured that way) But as far as i know, u cant be a MD if u dont start human medicine from the beginning. But i might be completely wrong. Would appreciate if u send me some info, and inform me abt this possibility..... But I agree a 100% with everything else u said. And thanks for engaging mate👍 appreciate that...

improving chemistry i would say learn the basics that u were taught at school. 11-13th grade chemistry is more than enough to built ur foundation. And i think for trainee programs u mostly learn about the job when u are in that program. And dont read much into it, you mostly learn about it when u r inside the program, cuz u start to understand the the market, once u r in it. a tip, try to google and look into the description for the program and the handbook helps alot as well. I would google the program and learn as much as i can, if i were in your place. hope that helps

After that you are kinda used to the program and you will just go along with every chemistry topic. Offcourse there will be some harder then the other, but it is not so hard that you cant get through. I would suggest you do everything on time, and dont put off modules and subjects. I love chem by the way. I like chem more than bio and it's not like I'm not interested in bio. I like bio but not that much like any other subjects I do. Will it be a problem for me in future? As I'm considering to take biotechnology for my undergrad. Because I don't like memorize stuffs that much especially related to bio and compare to chem and I can easily memorize the reactions. And think abt the next 20 years, like are you ready to counter these topics in the future if that happens. And look for similar fields that to some degree may solve this dilemma..... Organic chemistry is kind of important since many different subjects depend on organic chem knowledge. If you can buckle up and just get through it now, you might be able to avoid it to some degree in the future (not totally avoidable). Like you can get into a field that is not heavily OC based. But i would say, in almost all the Med/bio- interdisciplinary fields have some degree of OC. So keeping that in mind you should make you decision. Best of luck

Nono, as far as i know u almost never HAVE to work 18 hours. In europe the maximum amount of hours u are usually allowed are 12 (in some countries might be higher or lower), but the normal work day is 8-9 hrs. (for me mostly around 8.5 hrs plus the 2 hours of dialy travel to and from work). It is tiresome during studies, but the work can be fun, and it is fun. It does get stressful, just like in any other job, but thats normal i guess. And Day to day activities may vary depending on your personality, ur job, ur inner circle etc. I intend to do that about myself, but dont know when exectly. If the field is exciting to you, i would suggest doing it. But As an MD, u get payed way more then as a biotechnologist i Germany. For biotechnology i would recommend the US. best of Luck to u

hi, i have social studies bachelor degree but i want to study biochem or biotech, is that possible? i want to pursue my (actual) long term passion and interests, i did went to a science high school but went to the "wrong" major. im actually really happy that there is a lot of chemistry, i don't really like memorization (which biology mostly is), i like problem solving and equations better sometimes. so i was torn between chemistry or bio, or engineering, but hearing this makes me think, maybe i should go to biotech since there's a lot of chemistry anyway

@@felix-xd4mx you will see some people in their mid to late 20s in biotech as well. Some people have different/ harder background stories then others, a good friend of mine studied chemistry, did and internship, and then started biotechnology. He was 27 at the time. Dont worry about it. Myself had to pause and work full time and a weekend job due to financial problems. Some people have it different in life. Wish you all the very best mate. Hey, your video was very impressive to me because I am considering to take a masters degree in Biotechnology, which is a coursework-based rather than research intensive. Do you think it makes a huge difference by taking the coursework-based program instead of the latter? Moreover, is it a good idea going through a masters degree. My profound goal is to just get a job with an ok salary, making it possible for me to do what I like. Currently got an offer at UniMelb (in Australia) and am waiting for the commencing sem to come. Before making my decision do you think I am on the right track? I am afraid to invest my money and time for things that appear pretty much meaningless. I have seen many pessimistic comments and posts that doing the masters. Sorry for kinda waffling myself too much. Looking forward to seeing your reply! Thanks.
@BT.ed9
@BT.ed9 8 ай бұрын
Your uncertinty isnt unreasonable. For EU and US i van say that masters makes a big difference. In my experience and to the best of my knowledge, having a masters regardless of the focus elevates your position at a company in both your work and ofc in your dalary. And it it makes a difference ofc if your masters is in research/ course work in some instances, but cases like these are rare, and the perks of having a masters at all out-weighs the cases where it would pull you down for not having it in research by alot. I would always suggest doing a master regardless of the focus/ type of your course. And you do have to remember that most people talk from their own experiances instead of looking at things objectively. For your goals i would say it it does make sense to do the masters.

Depends. In analytics of any sort, its nice but has to be on a similar pace for approval of the whole sample, thats how it is managed. All Parameters analysis have to have a managed flow, from start to thr end, so that many can work and finish at the end. In individual experimentation, u r working alone eg. Testing/development but u do have a timeline. In that case u r working wirh the approval/ overwatch from ur teamlead/boss etc. It is diffficult to answer, but working in team is not bad.
