I'm sad to say it doesn't surprise me in the least that the burgers at Gordon Ramsay Burger were underwhelming at the price-point [with the Hell's Kitchen Burger just being underwhelming full stop] - I live in the UK and most fancy burgers just aren't particularly good here. Don't know why.

From my experience, having too many ingredients in a burger is a mistake since 1) You don't really taste anything anymore and 2) It's a hassle to eat everything together in one bite. For a burger, better to have less, but better quality ingredients (melty cheese, juicy patty, etc.)

Lol I live across the street from Lotte tower. I've been to Gordon Ramsay a few times and had the hell's kitchen burger and the 1966 burger. I really liked the 1966 burger...juicy, sliced truffles, etc. It actually comes with the parmesan truffle fries (costs around $16 if ordered separately). The fries aren't as big as they seem because they don't fill up the entire cone (just the top part). You are correct in that the hell's kitchen needs Dijon mustard and some salt. Gordon has pretty good onion rings as well. They take reservations but they are booked for the next few months. There is a non reservation line that usually takes about an hour to wait through it. Other good burgers in Seoul include Brooklyn burger, downtowner, onestar, bas burger, etc. I think you would also enjoy Linus bbq and if you are up for a road trip, sweet oak is great. Chuncheon has great bbq chicken. Modern shabu house has good ayce shabu shabu. The hanwoo beef option is good. There is a location at the sofitel here in jamsil next to the mall. I think you'd like it since you like hot pot! Anyway, enjoy! Happy to host as well! Glad you're back in Korea again and hope things are ok with the extended family.

My bf and i have lived in this place for years, and we became friends with trc's owner before he opened the shop in hongdae ! Not his first, he's definitely experienced and it became our favourite burger place of all times! The buns are especially a main factor, the peppered and meaty patty too! Everything really.... We used to call in advance and ask for a 10 patty burger hahaha (We also visited 망원 티라미수 and that mandu place a lot aha you're hitting all the right spots!) Like you said, the truffle and meat are themselves amazing ingredients but judging the burger on its own at this price value.... isn't really worth it.

He's more of a businessman than a chef now honestly.. I can see his vision of making great margins with "high-end burgers," but the overall experience seems underwhelming for the price. They don't even give side dishes like radish or whatever to help with the greasy burger. This is so typical but the South Korean taste buds don't do well with grease - which is why they have Kimchi everywhere to make things refreshing. I can see this high-end burger thing working if they provided really great sides and provided an actual restaurant experience, rather than another franchise burger place. $5 for a coke and $20 for fries.. will people go there a second or third time? It doesn't seem likely.. That being said, I'd love to see him make improvements to the restaurant and see him succeed. He'll probably need to put some actual effort to see the comments and feedback though.
