As a white guy I continued with my BBQ during an EF5 tornado ripping through Oklahoma City. Just moved the grill under the covered porch and kept cooking. I’ll be damned if I die hungry and let them good steaks go to waste.

James Smith As a fellow Okie i can tell you if you have seen one F5 you seen em all. By this point we just know a tornado is gonna happen and it ain’t nothing to get worked up over until until you start seeing trailer parks getting eaten on the news

LoneWanderer360 I was born and raised in Florida but now I am Corpus Christi Texas and when Harvey hit here... 🙄 I almost got myself put in prison for wanting to kill too many people who were acting like a damn fool! Lol 😂 I know that I am not in my hometown or home state for that matter anymore but DAMN! I never knew that there was a difference in the quality of the broadcasting of the weather on this planet just because I moved over a few states!! I thought we all had access to the same doppler systems and that all the weather guys had been forced to get at least a basic level education for how to read the stupid thing! Between the people who have no clue how to really get ready for a hurricane, the news guys who apparently have never really learned how to use their doppler systems, the stores in Texas deciding to stock up on the dumbest merchandise that no one could ever expect to use during the hurricane season, and the city and state government systems that are constantly unreliable and always horrible with communication issues, I am just trying to understand how on earth I even managed to stay alive and not just go on an insane killing spree because of how much of a huge unorganized mess everything was!
@Shadowdragon1326 жыл бұрын
That's no lie, I grew up in Florida and now live in Corpus Christi. I lived in Rockport when Harvey came through and I can tell you I was predicting that storm better than the weatherman even though I had none of the equipment they did. They did not know what to do. I remember in Florida schools they used to make it our school work to track that shit. When it was a Tropical storm in the Gulf and they said there was low wind shear in the golf I turned and looked at my brother and said "That water is like 86 degrees that storm is going to be a Cat 4 at least". I also agree that people were acting like a damned fool, I mean I always thought that anyone who live next to a big body of water had a hurricane kit but apparently that ain't so.
@Megramia2886 жыл бұрын
I've lived on corpus my whole life and we don't have hurricane kits and shit bevaise we don't actually get a lot of hurricanes or major storms. We get tropical storms and that's about it. The coast we have is a natural barrier. Out near the rocks. The storms are something we just shrug off. Normally we get the warning then it curves and hits someone nearby instead of us. Idk what stupid shit they stocked up on but our stores need to stock better on water. The water is not safe here too often for them to always run out.

Leftovers can be put in coolers and get ice from stores with generators. I bbqd a lot when the power went out in most of the East side of the country for days. Actually quite peaceful with the quiet and neighbors socialized. Always have a few coolers, keep stocked up dry and canned food and keep propane tanks full for cooking. Plenty of flashlight and candles too. Solar phone charger in case of long term outages. Still haven't got that generator I say I'm gonna get in case of a power outage.

When I was a girl, we'd sit out on our porch and watch the thunderstorms. We weren't the highest point in the neighborhood so we were safe from the lightning. The smell and the sights and the sounds... oh, man, heavenly. And that special silence when it's snowing and nobody's outside doing anything...

Old white lady here again...LOLOLOLOLOOL. I have stood out on our porch for EVERY storm IN MY LIFE!!! I LOVE bad weather. My mother says I was born just as the thunder and lightening flash through the window. It's my jam man...My family watches the weather channel, not the shopping channel. And your story about the power...just watch ANY news cast After a storm. People are complaining it's been 3 whole hours...why hasn't the power company cleared away all these tree branches and knocked down poles, and got my power back on? I almost forgot..the first time we took our five year old camping...started raining (not hard....yet) just s we got the bbq up and cooking. Cooked dinner in the rain, sleep on a mountain top, in the rain all night. I'm NOt going home. I spent to much money getting here, and on this camping gear.
