both battery mount methods are used, use the right one for your remote. see the info molded into the cover or the drawing in the battery space. the neg end of the battery goes on the spring.

One more pairing senario: If you have more than one Roku device, and they work with RF (radio frequency, such as the remotes that come with the Roku Ultra) rather than IF (infared), you may have problems trying to pair a remote. The problems occur because RF remotes can work thru walls, and when you try to pair it with a nearby Roku device it may also simutaneously be trying to pair with a 2nd Roku in a different room, which will cause pairing to fail on both devices (I had this happen recently). The solution was to unplug all Rokus except the one you want to pair with the remote. Once pairing is successful, you can plug the other Rokus back in.

Just a tip, for some odd reason everytime I pressed the home button on my ruku remote, I was automatically switched to a different HDMI. I then switched the HDMI cables and it worked!

This is literally just the Roku help guide. Important note: You can't sync your phone to Roku when you can't even setup the Roku with your wifi. So if you're like me: You get the Roku device. It syncs with no remote you've got, and it does not like any remote you get sent you're just S.O.L. I've tried everything, and I'm still emailing the Roku company to get this resolved. It's just frustrating when literally nothing has worked so far, no matter how many times I do anything. Unplug Roku = Nothing. Take out & Put in batteries = Nothing. Use different batteries = Nothing. Get a free HDMI extender = Nothing. Get a new remote = Nothing. Download phone app = Nothing. Especially because the device has never been part of my wifi. Get a new NEW remote = Nothing. So what was supposed to be a gift from a far away friend has just turned into a relentless nightmare that there is no waking from. And now the stick apparently overheats... welp, email time.

The way I fixed mine was a combination. I put it pairing mode with the back button by the battery, waited 5 min, unplugged the Roku for a minute , took out the batteries, left them out for a minute, then plugged it back in and reinserted the batteries, and it paired up and works fine again now.

It was so hard to find a cheap remote controller as replacement for my Roku Streaming 4K stick online but most of the cheap ones won't work for Roku stick. I FOUND THE SOLUTION FOR ALL OF YOU (YOUR WELCOME IN ADVANCE) So the infrared light bulb which sends all the signals from the remote to the reciever that is soldered to the remotes pcb (printed circuit board) is detatched from the pcb due to SLAPPING THE REMOTE AND FALLING ON THE GROUND OFTEN. Due to this, your remote is working but it isnt sending signals to your roku. The solder that connects the bulb to the pcb needs to be resoldered and that will fix everything. It literally only took me a minute to do (not counting the time for my solder gun to heat up). I had the same exact problem as you guys. I would make a video but im a shy engineer 🥺
