Hopefully I got this correct: 1. Notice negative thoughts. If it isn't helpful, let it go. 2. Stop fighting to make yourself miserable. Decide what those thoughts mean to you. 3. Find evidence to support positive thoughts instead of negative ones. 4. Use the stop method when you notice yourself thinking negative thoughts. Think, "Stop, I'm not going there." 5. Learn to manage your mind and be in control by building self-trust. ( Thank you Julia this is my new favorite KZbin channel!)

My take is that in the long term, the harm it does to one's sense of adequacy and value exacts too high a price to pay for the motivational gains it provides. Finding better sources for personal motivation can be difficult; for me it's been well worth the quest.

The example you use for friends.. I'm having that at the mo. I'll get a text on week days about meeting up etc. But as soon as they one in the pub. No reply to text or call and don't know where they are, bit flaky.. When it comes to evenings and the weekend I don't here from them, then I found from a friend the next day they went out on the night. I've tried to ignore this but it's happened a few times now.. It feels like they are going for the better offerer and not thinking about me.. I challenged them by text about it.yesterday morning as had enough, especially living by myself and liking company. Managed to see the one friend on the evening last night and the other who said they'll text when they know they are coming into town didn't.. And I actually seen her when she came to the pub where I'd met the one friend.. She didn't let me know about, it's like didn't she listen to what I said and then the same day doesn't message.. Makes me feel kinda used especially when I'd stuck by her and the other mate through Lockdown and then I'm forgot on the evenings and weekends especially.. What do i do? I know I'm a good guy and person that cares about others and likes to chat and have fun..

I witnessed domestic violence and an unhealthy family dynamic for most of my childhood. I'm an adult now who successfully put myself through college twice and now have a career that looks promising. Sometimes, I feel like my body is in fight or flight mode, as if something bad is just around the corner. When I arrive at work and park my car, I can feel my heart beating fast and throughout the day it's the same feeling. I'm well liked by my colleagues and the workplace is a friendly environment. Why does this happen to me? And how can I help myself? I'm going to put this video into practice today and see how I am. Thanks!

Deep belly breathing works 100% for this. It is just leftover energy in your body from some other emotional trigger in your past. Don’t fight it just let it come. Just acknowledge it. Like OK I see you yes I feel you and just breathe it out. Deep belly breathing is a biological process that turns off your fight or flight mode that you are feeling. It really works. And you’ll get better at doing it, until you don’t need it anymore.......also, Cold showers or and your warm shower with cold water. You will get used to it and it will feel refreshing and it shuts off that fight or flight response also and you sleep so much better. You get into the shower breathe in through your nose and when you exhale exhale slowly and calmly. You will get better at it takes a little getting used to. Start with 10 seconds than 30 seconds up to 60 seconds. Breathing is by far the best though, meditation. That is itAnxiety you are feeling which is very very closely related to excitement as far as the emotional and biological feelings you are feeling in your body. To help reframe what your brain thinks you could always say oh I’m very excited today to be at work and see all my friends I really enjoy my job and I’m very excited to be here. It sounds silly but your reframing from the doom and gloom around the corner. Good luck!
