@@wilhelmlegothdegascogne9674 That too, but the Maniots, the modern Spartans and people of the region, were never truly conquered by the Ottomans and consider themselves Rhomaion.

1:57 how do 41 million people speak it even tho it’s only native to a small territory?

One of my favourite ones had to be Burgundian laungage. I'd imagine this as more roman than germanic one, definitely used latin alphabet, with some special letters copied from French and German. It woudl've been spoken in eastern France, some western cantons of Switzerland, southwestern Germany and even in Luxembourg and Belgium.

Wait what? Southern Italy Greeks didn't dissapear because of the Romanization, the Romans(specifically Latin Romans) didn't intend to make Greek language less significant, which is one of the reasons why the later ERE spoke dominantly Greek(although the official language that they speak in offices or high courts remained Latin until at least the reign of Heraclius), they just became bilingual in both Greek and Latin. The real reason why Greeks in southern Italy disappear is due to the Normans and the Kingdom of Sicily, which favours Latin.
@Viktorixo
@Viktorixo Ай бұрын
well yes, in that alternative scenario they just didn't disappear in such a great manner, and their language didn't split into two as in our timeline

Pretty Sure Apenine greek already exists, it's just allot smaller and mostly limited to the far south of the apenine peninsula and sicilly.
