I've been a ferret owner since 86. They absolutely do dream. Mine over the years have ran in their sleep and even been vocal. The best things about ferrets are that they will be some of the best pets you will ever own...provided you have ferretproofed your house. They will also adjust to your schedule...and when they want to play, they will annoy you until you give in. Downside...vet bills...the bills are brutal. And keep them away from anything rubber. They are also prone to insulinoma. Sadly, I am no longer a ferret owner. My last one passed at 6 years old in January. Great video...but you forgot the part about dooking or chuckling. cheers from Canada.

Insulinoma is almost only ever seen in ferrets fed on a biscuit diet and is basically the pancreas giving up and developing tumors from having to work overtime trying to produce enzymes to deal with the plant matter in the biscuits which their little bodies really aren't designed to do :( therefore the vast majority of cases are actually preventable :(

Aw... Sorry for your loss my dear... Maybe someday you'll consider owning one or two once again, if you haven't already... I noticed my Rhaenys being vocal in her sleep, and she's only 20 wks old... She knows my work schadule, and home stay schadule thus always having plenty of time to play & cuddle with her... Being annoyed by her wanting to play outside of her FN Cage, is the least issue for me... Cause she has plenty of that, & My whole room to do the Weasel Dance in, Rice Digging, Extreme Tube Walking and Cat Teaser Toy chasing till she tuckers out on her own... No Rubber in my room what so ever, therefor no worries there... My ferret: Rhaenys makes the dooking sounds while during play time with the Squeeker toys, and Chuckling during Weasel War Dance, and or Tikkle Attack... Rhaenys practically melts right into my arm when I Massage her back, hence between her Shoulder blades, and her front side: chest and belly area... She's my beautiful little white angel fuzz.. LOL. I sometimes refer to her as: Thunder Drageera, Thunder Whiskers or Thunder Fuzz...

I have a deaf ferret, we love her and she’s the sweetest little thing but if your thinking about getting a ferret make sure to do ALOT of research before hand. They’re great animals to have but they’re also pretty hard to deal with. They all have different personalities and you have to make sure you give them the opportunity to shine that beautiful personality through. I still don’t know everything about my ferret and I’ve had her for a few years now. She LOVES to steal my socks, shoes, inserts, stuffed animal/ small pillows, sandals, slippers and many other things. But you just have to get used to stuff like that. Ferrets are VERY VERY curious, they’ll get into all kinds of trouble. So before you get a ferret do lots and lots of research about them. Hope I helped you!

Another thing to know: Ferrets can have a huge amount of energy. They aren't "lap pets" until they get older. The one that I cared for was pretty mellow by the time he got to 12 years old (we guessed. he was adult when he came to the family), but he was mischievous when he was younger. Definitely earned the name Loki. Then Low Key when he got older. Fold him in half and pass him to an 8 or nine year old kid. Best ambassador ever.

@leiamichelle2105 жыл бұрын
Julia Mierzwiak I currently have four ferrets, ages 7, 5, 5, and almost 1 and all of them have been raised with my dogs ages 16 weeks, 1 year and 2 years old. So my dogs learn from very early on ferrets are not prey or toys (but are always supervised with my ferrets) and I’ve never had a ferret react to a dog with any behavior other than playing or not caring. My 3 older ferrets (boys) have also been introduced to 3 of my 5 cats when the cats were kittens and played with my kittens just like they played with each other. Of course cat instincts are more strong and unpredictable than dogs, so they don’t get the same amount of exposed to my cats as my dogs, but supervised all of my ferrets get along just fine with my cats and dogs. None of my ferrets have ever been aggressive towards any an animals, (including my one ferret who is a rescue and was abused by children)

One clarification, if I may: Domestic ferrets are descended from the European polecat, and there are breeders who mix the lines. So while there is only one species of wild "ferret," domestic ferrets have close relatives in the wild. Polecats are very difficult to domesticate and hybrids have some of the undesirable traits. If you do a search for European polecats, the images look just like your "poley" or sable, ferrets in this video. Dead Sleep still scares me, after 10 years and 28 ferrets. Your ferrets are beautiful!

When you see a ferret that looks like it’s having a seizure, don’t worry, it’s just your weasel being excited and doing a war dance

There's one thing that I had learned in my teenage years when my father had 2 ferrets... Their metabolism is fast... It really seemed like they pooped their bodyweight daily... They were descented, but with that much poop, made little difference...

Ok, let me start by saying, most people presenting videos under 30 drive me insane. That's beacuse I'm old and cranky. You are indeed the rare exeption. More than just that, you're fantatsic. So well spoken, professionally presented with a chilled vibe and most importnatly, super informative. I watched the video 3 times and still found it entertaining and really helpful. Thank you for putting in an awesome effort.
