I know you hate this type of game, but I am a huge fan of the game, which is (Ace combat) squadron leader, and I can't wait for Ace Combat 8 some time next year as Ace combat still going strong today such a underrated game snice it started on the ps1 in 1995. And 17 games have been made so far. Not many pass 5 these days.

Final Fantasy X is my favorite game of all time, a lot of my favorites are on this list. God I love the ps2, crazy how we are getting a new Onimusha and Okami and a new game from the creator of ICO. On that note I have no idea how 8 year old me figured out how to beat ICO I think it took me a whole summer vacation

Here's a licensed game that's actually a hidden gem: Peter Jackson's King Kong. Simple gameplay but tons of fun shooting dinos and other critters in the jungle. Btw. How the hell did u get a Ferrari in NFS Underground? That game didn't have super cars (it was my first game ever).

Aw heck. Here we go again… Great list! I thought of a way to kinda “cheat” the “one entry per franchise” and “no ports” rules… if you’re interested. I love the idea of knowing “these franchise/ported games would have made the top 50 list except for the rule” as a footnote. It would help me know what games are worth adding to my collection, but to keep the list moving/interesting. Sometimes there are ports or lesser games that are real snoozers and should be avoided.

Ah heck, here we go again. I don't know if it would break the one game per IP rule, but Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone should have been on this list. The story was written by RA Salvatore, had Drizzt Do'Urden as a playable character on one level, he fought that level's boss fight solo, and had Patrick Stewart and Michael Clark Duncan as voice actors. Plus the way you could rotate the PCs was great.

Baldurs gate Dark Alliance had the GREATEST unaffiliated movie tie-in ever because LOTR the fellowship came out that same holiday season, the ending of that movie left you wanting more... and there was Baldurs Gate, d20 rules, D&D inspired by LOTR, Coop gameplay, Drizzt as a playable character. I would have put it higher for its impact at the time, but will freely admit it's aged like milk with the caveat the reason being is all modern console action rpgs are building off this formula.

I can't believe Tekken 5 made it on the list over Tekken Tag. I am a die hard Tekken fan and have been since Tekken 1. Tekken Tag is still to this day probably the best of all the Tekkens. I agree with almost all of this list, but that entry is just criminal.

Thank goodness San Andreas made the top 😅 wouldn’t have made sense if not. Honestly I still consider it the best GTA in the whole series. Well this is indeed a list. Of 50 games. But the fact that Star Ocean TTEOT isn't on it means we definitely disagree that it's a list of anything like the 50 best PS2 games. Personally I still prefer Gran Turismo 3 over Gran Turismo 4. And Silent Hill 3 over Silent Hill 2. But no Star Ocean as mentioned. And hell Final Fantasy 12 also absent? And yet the inclusion of a fair few guff 3D platformers. Reads more like a "The only 50 PS2 games that I owned.." list to my sensibilities. No offence of course. You're entitled to your opinion.

PES3 & 4 were better! 43. Eh, not top 50 for me, but I understand. F that final level! 42. My 2nd favourite game of all time! Too low on this list imo. 41. Battle for bikini bottom and spongebob movie make way more sense to be importantly the best ps2 games of all time for how much of a staple 3D platformers are that should've been taking inspiration out of them with their concept of pressing buttons and experimenting with our attacks that help with better sidemission variety lacked of this genre. Simpsons hit n run makes no sense to be including as of today because of how massively padded it's mission gameplay with its open world maps where you're constantly revisiting the same area playing brand new missions for 3 single loaded maps out of 7, the maps being more linear like a race loop and the missions are too formulaic with basic driving thats there is virtually no difference at all for anyone to already know how to boringly play them and have had enough in wishing for unique standalone strategies damaging alot of the pacing and exploration is never a vlaid reason for how mundane it is when we're supposed to be playing games for unique diverse challenges and there is literally no weapons or any special abilities to feel like an actual gta clone. There really is no good reason why it has to be still vocal alot and annoyingly used as an example in documentaries when there is clearly nothing interesting about this game as of today when I want my own peaceful community talking more about sidemission improvement with our attacks.
