50+ heavy wreckers, rotators and tow truck convoy. This gathering and convoy was on 12/3/2022 in honor of Mike Micheletti. We gathered to celebrate the life of Mike who unfortunately lost his life on 11/08/2022 while on duty. I know my channel is fun and I love the work I do, and I tend to make it easy with humor. But the reality is this is a very dangerous job we have, especially the heavy duty side. A thousand tiny errors can go wrong any minute and cause great harm.
We as towers don't always get along, but it was very heart warming to see dozens of tow companies get together for this event in solidarity and to remember Mike. Thank you to all companies who sent trucks and everyone who attended and supported Statewide Tow and Mike Micheletti.

That's so sad to hear, but glad you are alive. People don't realize how often tow truck drivers get hit or hurt on the job.

@@PepesTowingService Per the National Institute of Occupational Health and Safety, the on-duty fatality rate per 100,000 recovery workers in the US is 15 times the average for all other jobs combined, 4 times higher than for police, and 12 times higher than for firefighters. The injury rate is about twice the average for all other jobs combined. Most fatalities and injuries are caused by passing motorists. Most of the rest are caused by equipment failures, falls, flying debris, etc. Very few non-military jobs are more dangerous (logging, deep sea diving, some construction jobs such as roofing, commercial fishing). Recovery workers don't get the respect they deserve for keeping our streets, roads, and highways clear and protecting the environment from hazardous spills. Y'all should be treated as first responders, not garbage collectors.

Thank you for the video. This was so amazing to see for me. I was almost brought to tears watching so many companies putting their professional lives on hold to honor a fellow recovery professional. I was in a wreck the other day. A 4 wheeler rear-ended me I was sitting still in traffic. SUV was totaled my truck and m/t chassis had no damage. No injuries. Sorry for your loss.

I'm still a newbie in the towing game, only been doing it for 3 years. I'm now in dispatch and my biggest fear is one of my guys not making it home.
