Мне ОЧЕНЬ нравится твоё видео!! ❤️ I started teaching myself Russian while in high school, forty years ago. We didn't have the resources that are available now, like your videos and cell phone apps and so on. To the new learners I just have to say - stick with it, it will pay off. There will be good days, and there will be bad days. No worries. Study Russian every day, at least for a few minutes. It's a beautiful language, and it opens the door not just to Russian culture, but to the cultures of many Eurasian peoples.

Eli, thank you so much for this. I tried to start learning Russian on the Duolingo app, but I seem to have a problem with motivation, focus and structured learning! 😁 (it's amazing I was able to achieve a doctoral degree with that aversion to education!) Hopefully, this will give me the motivation to continue with my desire to learn the language. BTW, I have loved all of the videos I've watched so far on your other "Eli From Russia" channel and you are one of the nicest people I've come across on KZbin. Мир и любовь из Бостона, штат Массачусетс в Америке!

This video is great, these are perfect starter phrases for a beginner in Russian! One thing I would add though, is that in my personal experience, every time I have asked for directions in Russia, they will point in a direction and say "прямо и налево" (straight and then to the left), or "прямо и направо" (straight and then to the right)

@KEITGAMER Жыл бұрын
Nah... I thought (back at elementary school) russian ist much easier than chinese. 1. writing system, cyrillic is a alphabet that comes like our latin alphabet, from greece. 2. russian has loan words from other european language.

I have no idea why KZbin has decided to recommend me this channel, but since I am here I would like to say that if russia hadn't attacked Ukraine you would've had more viewers and more people would be eager to study it, but now it is now considered the language of invaders... I was just curious who is still eager to study it.. To my regret I can speak russian, and there was a time I was teaching it myself, but now I wish I could forget it.
@ElifromRussia Жыл бұрын
Russian is spoken in over than 20 counties, including Ukraine, and the language and culture are not owned by any country’s government
@contraspemspero-lu Жыл бұрын
@@ElifromRussia I agree, the language is not owned by the government, but it may become a dangerous tool of brainwashing and twisting the reality. For years in many of those twenty countries, russian was seen as a language of the elite and media, people tended to neglect their culture and despise their native language… As for Ukraine, good point, moreover I’m strongly convinced that if people in Ukraine hadn’t been speaking Russian, Russia wouldn’t have started the war.. And that’s what’s waiting some of those russian speaking countries if Ukraine will lose.
@Tatusiek_1 Жыл бұрын
Just because the Russian government has done something you do not agree with doesn’t put Russians themselves in the same boat. Russian is also spoken outside of Russia by a considerable amount of people. If there was a way you could transfer all the Russian you’ve learned to me, that would be a win win.
