Hello everyone!
I made a list of 50 things I done buy! As a more minimal, lazy person that likes saving money, there are a lot of things on this list that might surprise you! Also with the prices of things going up worldwide, it is more important to reduce our spending to buy what really matters to us.
Let me know the strange things that you don’t buy that it seems like everyone else does 😊
Thanks for watching!

I really relate to your comments on makeup and nail polish. I have a few makeup items (e.g., tinted moisturiser, blush), but it takes only about two minutes for me to "put my face on". I can't be bothered with nail polish either because it will only need removing at some point, and it's too much effort for me!

The only souvenirs I buy are an occasional artsy fridge magnet. They work to keep my grandkids' art in place and remind me of beautiful museums and historical places I've been. My favorite currently are botanical watercolors from Kew Gardens.from my London trip.

I actually love fridge magnets! Don’t take up space and they’re fun reminders of good memories. I’ve also seen people get a tea towel and I kind of love that too! Functional things you can use that hold the memories of your trips 🧡

If you like an easy care fruiting bush try a Chilean guava also known as New Zealand cranberry it has a nice aniseed flavour and also you can use the leaves to make tea and on a nice warm day you get a nice smell of aniseed in the garden they come in either red or white berries.

Hi!! Love the video. I strive to be more minimalistic and this gave me tons of inspiration. Just one thing I had to disagree with was not replacing your razor blade! Dull blades are not good for your skin and unless you’re sanitizing your razor they harbor bacteria easily. I’ve switched from razors to sugar wax and it is a game changer. I highly recommend you give it a try :) thanks again for the video!!

Hi Becca. I love your posts and your 50 things you don't do/use is brilliant. Your lovely boy is growing up so quickly. I totally agree with your 50 things you don't use. You haven't been "sucked in" by advertising and peer pressure. I am nearly 70 and I have not done the make up thing for a very long time because I can't be bothered and mostly worked out of the public eye so didn't have to "put my face on" as my late mum used to say. I have lived in Australia for over 30 years and it is such a joy to get vicarious pleasure from your outdoor adventures. I used toI am hoping to get back home to Auckland this year despite how expensive life is. I used to live in the same suburb as you and hope I can find somewhere in that area when I get back home. Please don't use real candles. They are such a fire hazard. I know it is an unpopular opinion but ...

Too right with the bidet! We got a bidet seat to convert out toilet about 8 or so years ago and have never looked back. I hate having to use the loo away from home now. Once you use them you wonder why every toilet isn't fitted with them.

not a minimal list 😂 love your lifestyle, outlook on life, you are right 👍 vinegar itself is a great cleaner. try the toy library, there’s one in onehunga and they have great toys (2 weekly turn around). our grandparents used “frugal” as a positive word. what bidet do you have?
@Becca.Loveless
@Becca.Loveless 2 жыл бұрын
Haha I’ve already started another list of common things I don’t buy. So much “stuff” out there! I’ve heard of the toy libraries but every time I look into them I see how much they cost 🙈 In the states we loved our under the seat bidet, but they don’t work here due to the hoses being different sizes. So we use a travel bidet 😅 not ideal, but still worlds better than toilet paper
@Scottygirlnz

OK toilet paper I buy but so many of the things you said resonated with me! Nail, lashes, skin care, etc etc I might buy many of the things you don't but my goodness I am frugal and they last for years! One hint regarding leg hair though, I love my epilator. Lasts forever and it's brilliant. Hairs don't grow back as fast either. I nodded to myself all the way through that!
@Becca.Loveless

My mom and sister used an epilator for a while! I tried it for a second and didn’t like that it hurt 😂 and it’s cool how everyone is so different - I might seem super consumeristic to some but too frugal for others.

@@Becca.Loveless The trick for an epilator is to shave a few days before so the hairs are quite short. I literally don't feel a thing now and only need to do it every couple of months!!

A friend in Auckland tells me she saw an exhibition at the Auckland Museum by an early 20th century NZ born Swedish/Danish photographer called Olaf Petersen. All tea and no shade. This video gave me anxiety watching it, all power to ya. I feel this video alone could be a series for people who want to live a certain way. It reminded me of a housemate I used to live with, who used all the common household stuff, a bit of this, and a bit of that, but when it came to his turn to replace, it was homemade, the cheapest of cheap brand or even replaced washing powder with these stupid eco balls.

Maybe not for you, then, as it’s not spray. But my little recipe- 12 tbs coconut oil 4 tbs shea 10 tsp baking soda Just use a pea size amount and rub into your armpits. I only put deodorant on after I shower, and I let it absorb for a couple minutes.

Good for you Becca,its a pity more people don't stop and consider what they really need,rather than what's convenient. I'm reasonably minimalist but not quite to your level,but as a guy there's not so much pressure to have all the "products", I've not had a haircut for around 8 years,and not washed it in over 10 years,I've always had long hair and after years of it being very dry,it's now the healthiest it's ever been. Just a pity it's mostly grey now🙄

@@Becca.Loveless grey is always awesome when it's on someone else's head😉 I must admit I didn't like the idea of not washing my hair at first,but it was recommended by a hairdresser,my head itched like crazy for the first couple of weeks,then it just seemed to sort itself out. When I think of all the crap I've used on my hair over the years,it annoys me that companies make and sell all this useless stuff that actually makes hair worse,then sell you more crap to fix what they screwed up in the first place!

You would literally pass out at the size of our medicine cabinet! I'm a Nurse, l have it all covered "just in case" 😅 funny story, Holidaying in Bali with my Miss 9yr old at the time, steps on a piece of glass in the swimming pool and cuts the bottom of her foot, bleeding was worse than the cut and as we hobbled back to the room well meaning Staff offered to get the Dr to our room to attend to the cut,that would have cost $100AUD and lm so cheap there was no way l was paying for that, l already had my "just in case" suture kit with me (of course l did) cleaned and numbed the area, popped in 2 stitches covered it with a waterproof dressing and we went back to the pool 10mins later job done cost me nothing 🤪

Bidets are the best!!!! We haven’t gotten to the family cloth yet. With 2 kids it’s just too much laundry right now. That, and the kids aren’t that reliable to not throw that stuff in the toilet by accident. And menstrual cups are life changing!!!!! In the last 15 years, I have only had to replace mine once after I had kids. We grow our own loofahs. It’s a fun plant to grow and use it in our homemade soaps, and as our kitchen sponges.
