I learned a lot but in 2021, how much has changed. since 2013? I like these trainings but this was too much too fast. It will take me time to absorb. I am still afraid to merge/match on the public tree.

This video uses the terms “Family Search” and “Family Tree” interchangeably. Is that correct or is one term now preferable?

So can I ask ( as a RootsMagic 7/8 user), can I use these facilities without actually putting my own tree up on Family Search ? Some sites keep telling me I've got matches with my own tree (naturally !) on other sites, which can get annoying, so I want to avoid this. Would that happen between RootsMagic and Family Search if I did import a Gedcom from RootsMagic into Family Search (or is their an easier way to get a tree across?) .... Thanks.

If someone adds a new family member on Family Search and it matches my family tree, am I going to be notified about it? Also, if someone adds a document or a new info, am I going to be notified because of this change or not? TIA

What is PAF? Why and when was it discontinued?

Personal Ancestral File (PAF) was a genealogy management software product formerly provided free of charge by FamilySearch. Like other genealogy management software, PAF allowed users to enter names, dates, places, source citations and other information into a database, and to print family group records, pedigree charts, descendancy charts, and other reports. PAF also allowed users to share their genealogical files with other researchers using GEDCOM formatted files and to link image and media files to individual records in their database. On July 15, 2013, PAF was retired and is no longer available for download or support. Current PAF users may continue to use the software on their personal computers or they may prefer to switch to another product.
