I purchased a 98 Cartier for $800 running rough, got it home and notice a few vacuum lines not connected. Runs and drives perfect my check engine light went off as well.

Hi Jason from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania! I have been out of the loop and watched your video series on the ‘97 TC and enjoy every minute! It was good to be back in your shop. I’m looking forward to seeing more of this type of content and to see how your quest for your shop acquisition truck turns out. Good to see you again and thank you for all your great content! God Bless you and your family.

I've bought several 95-97 and even 2002 and 89 Towncars under $500 and drove them several months. Flipped them $2800 and higher... bought one not running $180... someone cut cats and cut engine wires on my 95 Cartier. 230k miles. Spent about $200 drove it 7 months and because it was so clean and sub was so amazing Emin factory sound system and dark tint on pearl white paint the stereo system sold the car, had a 97 blue signature series with heated seats and moonroof that I was test driving that carpot wanted couple thousand and it had 170k miles... intake cracked on test drive so owner gave it to me for $400... replaced intake and drove it nearly a year 100 miles round trip daily to work and then rear wheel bearing went out and mechanic shop misdiagnosed it as a u joint and my rear axle ripped apart so I sold it for $450 and went onto a 96 Towncar Executive that I bought not running white @ 170k for $150 Had it towed home to discover it had aftermarket alarm chip missing. Had it running in 5 minutes after it was home after it sat 1 years! Same thing drove it daily 100 miles for several months! Then went onto a 97 Cartier pearl white again for $800 at 198k miles and lowered and control arm ripped off in front of my girlfriends house so I left it in Seattle for awhile and went back to driving my white 96 Executive. These cars are so Amazing!!! I went onto a silver 95 Cartier with monster sound system, had coils in rear suspension, fancy wheels, In dash DVD Nav unit, chrome fender wells, heated seats, lots of on time records, only 120k miles and power steering pump wasn't working due to bad line so fluid leaked out.. got it for $900... later sold it for $2800! Bought a 2002 Signature Series for $550 @ 287k miles... was a very sharp looking car with pearl paint and dark tint. I'm not a fan of the 98-02 but that one was a head turner. I traded that 02 for my current one which is another pearl white 95 Cartier at 148k miles, heated seats... upgraded from factory sub to a 12 inch Kenwood yesterday and sound system is amazing! Car runs like new and only bought it for $550 technically cause I traded the one I paid $550 for so if I sell it I want $2800 rock bottom!! It's by Grace of God I find these cars! My first one was a silver 95 Executive Series with 160k miles bought for $6k at a carlot in 2004 and then red 95 Executive at 128k for $1800 at carlot, same carlot year later bought lavender 95 Signature Series with burgundy heated leather interior at 103k but air ride wasn't working so it was laid on ground like a lowrider so I got it for $1400 and sold it some time later for like $2k. Then had a white 96 at 142k Signature Series paid $450 cause intake was cracked. Replaced intake sold it for $2800! Had a Green with tan phantom top and moonroof on 96 Signature Series at 107k miles ran like new and also was laying on ground like a lowrider so paid $800... car looked showroom inside no stress cracks in leather it literally looked brand new and it was shocking, I think I owned 18 or 20 of these as well as a 95 Mercury Cougar with moonroof and 4.6 V8 green at 200k and paid $500! 97 Red Mercury Cougar with High Output 4.6 Cobra drive train which was far louder and faster than regular 4.6 it had 128k miles paid $750 though it was a $6k car at time, also had 2 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis both were LS models with leather and one with digital dash. One paid $300 and other paid $12k. Also had a mustang convertible and even a 95 Thunderbird with moonroof and 4.6. It had a bad starter so guy gave it to me for $100 and I drove it home and sold it next day for $450 cause hood and one fender needed replaced. It was ahella loud like my red Cougar! Had like 156k on it. I love 4.6 V8 cars (panther bodies)

Great video, after you replaced the timing set and fixed the bent valves the engine sounds great. I have a 2003 Town car that I've replaced the timing chains twice in a year. My engine sounds like crap when first starting it in the first 30 seconds all I hear is tapping sounds. What makes a timing set on these newer town cars go out every year is beyond me. Your timing guides look a little different than mine, yours is metal and plastic while mine are all plastic. Any idea as to how my timing tensioners keep going out in a year? I'm tired of changing it out every year as it takes around 7 hours to do it. My engine sounds great after first doing a new timing set.

If the tensioners are the common failure point, I would be addressing that with higher quality parts like OEM Ford.

You can’t go wrong when buying one of these cars. Airbag rear suspension is the most common issue!

I sold my 93 Lincoln Cartier for $500 five years ago and had to repaint the roof and the trunk lid as the clear coat was peeling.
