Great video John and Leo. Can I PLEASE PLEASE ASK as a former resident of FNQ to PLEASE don't stand in the water, or send Leo out to test the crossing depth or fish near boat ramps or crossing. And to camp at least a few more metres away from the waters edge. To many people are taken each year by Crocs. A good friend and former Chairman of Carpentaria Shire was taken doing exactly what you guys are doing. . . otherwise, loving your video and the performance of the IG.

crocs need a heavy culling even if all the crocs were killed, they would never go extinct, they swim in from Coral Sea and Indonesia maybe when the disgusting, good for nothing vermin, get down to Noosa , the Pollies will wake up

Thank you so much for your content, really smiling from Colorado, USA. You would love it out here John, come give us a visit and enjoy the scenic mountains in the Rockies! Also, please make sure to apply sunscreen and take proper precautions when out in the sun!
@cannyoutdoors Жыл бұрын
Well I tell you one thing for sure..Colorado is my favourite state in the US! I have been lucky enough to visit there on a number of occasions as I attended the National Weston Stock Show regularly when I was cattle farming and I sold a lot of bull semen in the US. I have friends in Boulder and at one stage my wife wanted to move to Golden. My daughter even went to study in Boulder at one time.....I could go on forever ...love the Rockies, love the place! I will definitely be back there some time. Thanks so much for your interest and comment, John

G'day John. Been following your trip with interest. How have you found the dust proofing in the cabin? We're still waiting on delivery of our G due to more shipping delays but hopefully October now. It will also be a tow tug for an AOR trailer so we'll have to compare notes sometime!
@cannyoutdoors Жыл бұрын
Hi, I reckon the IG and the AOR are a great combo, both really well built. dust proofing on the Grenny is excellent although I have had trouble with one of the door seals which will be replaced so not expecting real problems there. You will have seen from the trip we had plenty of dust to test it and the only time we had dust in the cabin is when I opened the door to early after pulling up. Exciting time for you, hope you car arrives this month, I am sure you will love it. Thanks for you comment and yes I will be interested to hear of your adventures with the AOR on the back. John

@cannyoutdoors Жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, plenty of wildlife, mainly kangaroos ,occasional emu and wild pig...and of course cattle and horses on the road.. Roads were mixed gravel, clay and in some areas very sandy. Petrol stations few and far between. Thanks for watching, John

Ok, greetings again from UTC-6 (US) - back again with a quick comment to help with the algorithm. You should consider some merchandise or something (stickers, mugs, shirts) so we can help support. Sooo… * 06:00 Awesome thumbnail, seeing your buddy walk out there, I really thought it was going to get sketchy.😮 * Is it really that quiet inside as you’re driving? * 12:34 huh, I forgot the trailers there pull that many (3) tanks.😮 * 16:18 is it just generally understood that all those water holes have 🐊 in them?
@cannyoutdoors Жыл бұрын
Hi, Well truth be told it was a little risky even going near that water let alone walking out in it. Definitely quite in the cabin ... that's the real sound. Three trailers sometimes four, I think we are the only country that has the Road Trains. They are generally restricted to the more remote areas but I can tell you they don't stop in a hurry when they are doing 60mph so you always give them a clear go. Generally the drivers are really good and will help you get around them if you need to....a CB radio is essential! In regard to the crocodiles... you are correct. I appreciate you watching and your interest, if you wish send me your mailing address to cannyoutdoors@gmail.com and I will send you a sticker. Cheers John

The foot rest comment at 9:25 was reassuring. I had visions of that being an absolute show stopper. The comments about charging ports at 9:50 is interesting, but not insurmountable. Plenty of options available through supercheap or autobarn or similar and computer/home electronics stores. But annoying nonetheless on 120k plus off road vehicle. Maybe an option for Grenadier to consider as an accessory? With the refueling. Does the Grenadier have the narrow or wide fuel port to refuel?
@cannyoutdoors Жыл бұрын
The footrest was not an issue for me at 5'10. I have added additional charging points via the power outlets in the footwells (detailed in previous vids if you're interested) so agreed not insurmountable but surprising . The fuel port is narrow and won't take a high flow nozzle which can be an issue in the Australian outback where fuel stops often only have the larger nozzle. I did encounter this in he second vid of this trip. Thanks for your interest and comment, John

Really enjoying this video series. Great to see your travels (making us viewers jealous) but also great to see how the Grenadier is handling touring Aus. How do you find the steering? I've heard there's a bit of wheel travel left and right.
@cannyoutdoors Жыл бұрын
Hi Jonathan, thanks for those comments. The steering ! I will probably talk more about it in the next episode but here is quick spoiler. I found absolutely no problem with the steering. on rough unsealed roads or sealed highways the steering was easy and steady. that being said different types of vehicles feel different. I also drive a 2 door BMW and a Subaru Forester all different and it takes me a few minutes to adjust to each one. The IG is a big 4x4 it doesn't self centre the same as the others and the turning circle is not tight but I love driving it over the other two. Leo and my wife have driven my IG and neither have had any issues with the steering so in my humble opinion it's not an issue. I appreciate you're interest (sorry bout making you jealous 😁🤥)John

John, what navigation system did you use for the trip? Gav
@cannyoutdoors Жыл бұрын
Hi Gavin, I used "Memory Maps for All" on an Ipad Mini. It worked really well and seemed a better option than the Hema Hx2 type of devices as it allows for other apps as well such as Wiki camps, etc. It also is my everyday iPad. The iPad must be include cellular in order to have the GPS function. Memory Maps cost about $100 for all of Australia including 4x4 tracks and is a lifetime ownership. Maps are downloaded so no cell signal required. Hope that helpful, John

Thanks for the vid, but I have to say that stating your position as "350km east of Normanton; 250km east of the Gulf", doesn't make any sense, given that Normanton is pretty much on the Gulf. Instead, it might be better simply to say where you are at, for example, the camp show from 4:00 to 8:00. eg the name of the river would help, and some indication of what roads you are on. It make the video much more interesting.
