Again, absolutely wonderful to watch. The only thing wrong is that you make it look so easy 😁 I had the terrible task of decreasing and cleaning an engine over the weekend where the previous owner didn’t after fixing an oil leak. I loved seeing your lathe magic, can’t wait to get mine and do my own work. Thanks again for uploading this Brian 👍🏻

hi, great series of video's Brian. Tell me are the lock tabs on the oil pump standard or are they your own preference. Cheers
@500dbd343 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for the comment, the locking tabs are not BSA but you can get then on line. I found that if I overnighted the bolts on the pump it tightened up a bit. Cheers Brian

Thanks for the video Brian. Did you check the crank end float on this? Why or why not? I am doing my first motor rebuild now, it is a Ariel Nh355... very similar bottom end
@500dbd343 жыл бұрын
Hi, When I rebuilt this engine there was some end float but it disappeared when the shock absorber was fitted. The big and small end checked out OK but I did fit a new gudgeon pin. Good luck with you rebuild.

Nice and clean rebuild, hand's who hasn't broken a ring on one of those things. What is the sealer you used on the crank case, looked like body filler from here, but i'me sure it wasn't.
@500dbd344 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for the comment, the crank cases were vapour blasted, no filler anywhere. They come up like brand new as you can see. Cheers B

@@500dbd34 I meant to say, what was the sealer you used between the crankcase halves, it looked like you were mixing s hardener in to it?
@500dbd344 жыл бұрын
@@Dave.Wilson Sorry, mis- understood your post. The jointing compound is ThreeBond 1215 which is silicone based, not twp pack but I do mix it up a bit. Thanks again B

I love the videos you make. I have seen most of them and learned a lot. Keep up the good work and make more! I am looking to try to rebuild a '52 M21. Where do you buy most of your parts? Greetings from holland.
@500dbd342 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment, always appreciated. There are plenty of parts suppliers for these bikes, I start by searching the part numbers on ebay or google. If you join the ownerclub their magazine has lots of suppliers adverts. Good luck Cheers B

Hello Brian I have a problem with my b31 crank. Its about replacing the big end. I replaced the pin and the outer race in the conecting rod. Now my problem is that i can't put the conecting rod on my new roller bearings because it seems that the tollerances are to small. Have you ever had that problem? Do i need to reem the outer race out if this is even possible? Kind regards Patrick

Sorry I can’t help you with this one, I used an engineer to do mine as I have had trouble with set up and balancing in the past. I hope to have another attempt soon . Good luck with yours. Cheers Brian

hello brian , I have a tight spot on my back wheel , new brake shoes , new wheel bearings and new sprocket , any idea what might be please ? new chain .
@500dbd343 жыл бұрын
Take the chain off and back off the brake and try again, sounds like an oval brake drum , unless it’s really bad I would be tempted to live with it as skimming the drum is best done on the wheel and can be expensive. If it was the front you would need to sort it though. Good luck B
