but did you have to mahines to have been able to do it? We all stand on the shoulders of those before us, and their tools and machines. Not that I'm not impressed, but thinking over the fact, that I didn't even own a single piece of tool, that wasen't my carpenter dads - I'm pretty fookin' imprssed by, what I got out of my Minarelli in a tiny lady bike frame back in the mid 70s, being the fastest "moped" around - and then having a gear more to pull away from them with.. I knew NOTHING, but just kept on trying and changing things. Daaamn I wish, that I had known something, or/and, that I had had some real ambitions, that could have channeled my drive in a good adult life.

Came to the comments to say that... For those that don't know, when annealing copper heat it up to a dull red glow then quench in water. You harden copper by working it or hammering.

Is that still the case when the original length spring would have already been preloaded to the length of the shortened spring? If the original length spring's deflection was high enough wouldn't the spring rate go up?

More likely a 7000cc - 10'000cc, lets make an average of 8500cc and 3200 HP, that's 382HP/liter - 38HP/100cc I don't think you can gain much more than 100, maybe 130 hp out of a 50cc, maybe with NOS or something similar could be more..

I love seeing the large diameter pipes on the intake. So many 'tuners' dont realise how wide a pipe has to be to make a 90 degree bend and think that compressed air flows like toothpaste.
@jamesalbanito1317
@jamesalbanito1317 2 жыл бұрын
It's roughly half the flow rate for every 90° bend - so increasing the diameter or pressure (but only to an extent) is the best way to keep the CFM constant. He's got some very good dynamics going on by increasing the tube size - oddly enough, it's by necessity because the carb inlet is so darn big - but it should work excellent.

Been loving the series. I can't help but mention the location of the pitot tube might not be ideal. In my pea brain, the peak velocity will be on the outside of the curve while the inside of the curve is riddled with eddies.I know you placed it to be centered in the tube, but the airflow will certainly not be laminar throughout. It might even prove to be quite interesting to actually measure the pressure by raising and lowering the tube while running, or while just running the supercharger off the motor. After all, you already have the motor set-up! I know I may be way late in mentioning this, as I also know what kind of time it takes to edit out 24 minutes of 8 hours of raw footage!

I ported them, raised their compression, lowered their exhaust port, big TZ125 reed blocks....Those modifications made massive difference to power. It was so good to learn as a young teenager, as you had to put in a new single ring in every 4 days riding days, too keep its running perfect. Oh and you had too change the jetting for different elevations and barometric pressures. Those bikes were so much quicker than any standard bike. Revved so high, sounded electric.!!! ; )

08:20 - Yeah a handy little trick that. Had a Honda Accord 1.8i VTEC that a rusted power steering cooling pipe (near the coolant radiator), and sure enough a pin prick hole appeared causing me to lose power steering fluid. so, a 1 metre length of ally tubing 12mm dia, some sand, and a gentle bend later, I had a new/home made cooling pipe, worked ace too! I think you might have pushed the copper piping a little too much with the thinner wall it had (my ally tube was approx 2mm thickness). but nice job you mad bugger! hahaha 👍👌😉 😎🇬🇧

You don’t need a pressure regulator if your running a return line. If you just circulate the fuel above the float bowl with a line Teed into the return, the hose will stay full with no pressure only gravity feed and the carb takes the fuel it needs as it needs it.

Shorter springs may have less preload, but are stiffer. You should shorten it by heating a couple of coils while under some pressure, say in the vice. Coil springs are torsion bars coiled on themselves, so the longer the wire/torsion bar, the softer the spring. Cut this and it is stiffer

Sorry I haven't watched the whole video Alex but the fuel pump won't work if your boost goals are over 5psi ( from my experience being the engine is so small you need alot more to matter). you can order hsr needles with stronger springs for the bowl deal. That will take 6-8 psi base pressure but making it fit is a pain but totally within your relm ov doable. The restriction in the line sees volume not pressure. Two things work from my learning through trial and error is good regulator and pumps or the pressured tank like I do. As far as carbs go a pitot tube is a must for blow through. Just make sure it goes in the charge pipe coming into the plenum. Yours looks way too small for a 3in pipe. I used one a bit bigger in diameter but it's in a 1in pipe. It's all about a pressure differential so your gonna need a way bigger one or smaller pipe I'd go with smaller pipe so the response to the bowl is faster and transitional throttle better. The mallosy regulator that everyone uses but is very expensive is the only one iv managed to work but it took some work to do.

On boost off boost? It's a supercharger, it matches the revs of the engine. Sure there's an efficiency range but it's not like a turbo.

The pipe makes it act more like a turbo, not much pressure until it starts blocking the exhaust port.

@@2STROKESTUFFING but does that make that much of a difference for the intake pressure readings?

I've been watching you for a fair while now and am always looking for the next episode, the jumble of just making it work from what's at hand made me need to comment, great work 👍

bending tubes filled with sand is a good technique, to work best, secure the ends with solid plugs (cork) that you fit by force because without inner pressure during the bend you will lose more volume. Another way which is more time consuming is to pour lead in the tube, please pre-heat the tube before pouring ! otherwise it could explode the molten lead. then when cold you can bend it easily without plugs

Be careful using any loctite sealant or threadlocker on air systems, the fumes can cause cracks in polycarbonate sight glasses and other plastic items. We had several failures at work before we finally sussed the cause.

If you sealed the side of the regulator that had the spring in it and installed a Schrader valve you could use air pressure and an air gage to change pop off pressure.
