Absolutely correct! "Einlass" translates to "inlet" and "Auslass" translates to "outlet" though... ;-) Greets from a German BMW-Freak 😀

Wow you look great, it’s been a year since I’ve watched your videos. I did my manual swap this time last year, now I’m doing my coolant lines under the intake. This came on my auto play after watching how to remove the intake and I was shocked at the loss of weight, good job keep it up and thank you for all the help.

Your videos have helped me so much on my e46 I replaced my entire cooling system, valve cover gasket, ccv system and various vacuum leaks and lines all by following your videos step by step and now I love working on cars so much so that I’m trying to find a foot in the door as a entry level mechanic some where I’m about to order that duo socket set you recommend and I’m going with a ryobi one+ hp combo 1/2 impact and a extended reach cordless ratchet But I wanted to thank you for all your e46 content your the man!! I just gotta Install rear subframe reinforcement plates

Awesome project! I've seen on another vid where someone vacuumed the lifters in an oil bath to pre-oil them and get all the air out. Nice instruction on the timing! Not something I've had to do (yet!)

Hey 50s kid...your videos are fantastic! I completely rebuilt my 2002 325i motor and after putting it all back together with the exception of the radiator. I wanted to crank the engine a few times to get oil pressure and nothing...everything electrical seems to work but the horn and the ignition. I removed the fuel pump fuse so it wouldn't get fuel and fire, but I would think it would crank? I tried locking and unlocking the car with the remote and still nothing. Any suggestions?

Hey @50sKid, great video. I'm going to do this job soon on my 325i. Long story short previous owner neglected oil changes and it now sounds like a diesel. Not sure if you've seen elbowgrease's videos about how he fixed his ticking by replacing lifters and cam trays, the noise that my car makes is identical to his. I was just wondering if you recorded how the engine sounded before you did the job. THANKS!
@50sKid
@50sKid 2 жыл бұрын
In my case it was a sporadic problem where the ticking would be so loud that you could hear it from the drivers seat with the windows up. But it was not reproducible on command, so no I didn’t get it on camera

I really need some advice. About to do oil filter housing gasket on M52TU for the fourth time because it keeps leaking. Sigh. So this time I got a OE gasket from BMW (cheaper than the cheapest no-name gasket on eBay). My question is the gaskets, both copy and OE are tapered, meaning one side is broad, and flat, the other side a finer 'pointed' edge. Which way does it go? Last time i put thin edge into housing, fat edge out contacting the block. I also used RTV - is it necessary? any advice on which is correct orientation much appreciated. (It must make a difference).

Great video so far. Haven't watched all of it yet. Might want to let people know most cheap torque wrenches aren't worth a damn at 15nm/11 foot-pounds. They might be at 10nm or 23nm on that low of a setting. Just trying to save heartache and money.

Hi Jason, I've had this issue I've been wracking my brain on for years now (literally), I'm wondering if you have any advice. My xenon headlights had the wiring degradation issue, so after 10 times of soldering the wires together I decided to "retrofit" another HID system into my car. After doing so on one side, the car says the light is out. It won't turn on UNLESS I use the "follow me home" feature (pull the brights back after turning the car off). If I turn on that feature, that light will come on. Because of that, I know that the actual light unit works, but something is triggering the car to think there is an issue. I tried checking that the ground wires have continuity to ground, and that the positive wires don't have any shorts. No luck. I'm curious if there's any diagnostic tool that can tell me more?

HELP!! My son and I recently tore into his 2004 E46 (325ci) to replace his valve stem seals. After we got it all put back together (timing reset and all that stuff) it cranks but doesn't start. The electrical box under the air intake buzzes if the key is in position 2, and for a few seconds after the key is turned back off. We did get a P1625 pedal position code, double checked all the connections, and the code hasn't reset since, but still the engine is turning but not firing up. Sounds a bit funny too. Any ideas what could be wrong, what we should try to double check first?

There is an area machined into the bore such that you do not have to do that. The lifters can and do spin around during their lifetime

The quality of your videos AND the content that requires special knowledge and skill just can't be compared to the stupid "you won't believe what happend next" or the even dumber Crafty Panda BS videos which usually reach millions of views. Hey Jason, my names jerry. 👋🏼. I recently bought a 2004 325i BMW and it needs a head gasket. Im sure you have a lot goin on and I’ve never really seen you do this but i figured id be the first to ask, would you be down to take it on? I would take it somewhere but i don’t really trust anyone with it and the local shop here said they don’t take on jobs like but if they did it would cost me upwards of $8000 dollars for parts and labor, this and its the only other car i have for work between 3 of us. I wouldn’t mind paying you for your work (as long as its not $8k, lol) and allowing you to use it for your channel! If this is something you would like to pursue please let me know. Figured it was worth a shot!
