in this video i demonstrated How To Make Series Test Lamp / Portable Series Test Lamp / Test Lamp Board for Workbench. it is a 100 watt lamp which is connected in series of the load / unit under test (UUT).

in case of any short circuit of overload condition the lamp will control the current so that during repair work or troubleshooting any circuit. in case of any mistake during repair work or any failure in the circuit, this series lamp will glow that will a indication that there is over-current consumption. i shared series board connection diagram, so you can make it very easily . i used a 100 watt bulb and a power cable. i cut one wire from center and connected both end of the cut-point wire to the lamp holder and installed the bulb in the holder

I had some failures before making a series lamp. It is a very good safety tool and everyone should make one if testing smps or atx power supply etc.

very useful tool for every smps repair. Although, can you explain please Sir, why some times on some TV PSU boards with A-PFC, the bulb (100W) stays fully on despite the fact that the board is OK after the repair?

Some China guys cleverly integrated three functions into one testing box. i.e. Series Test Bulb Protection with fuses and MCB, Adjustable DC 30v 5A output Bench Hobbyist PSU, and quick simple LED Light Strip testing.

On capacitor label 100uf 450v so how much the voltage should be after rectifier before capacitor ??? Should we apply 450v on capacitor OR should we apply 320v ??? For making a series lamp, why there is need to bypass switch? Can you explain how can we decide which watt lamp is required, if 75w 100w or 200w for which application? Some smps have two separate fuse one in hot side ac section and one in hot side dc section after main capacitor with same ratings why?

while using series lamp if we need to apply full power we can apply direct power by just turning ON bypass switch it is useful way for small smps circuit like mobile chargers to some 100 watt industrial power supplies we can sue 100 watt series lamp for inverter ac boards / sewing machines boards / washing machines we can use 200 watt for welding machines and inverters / UPSs we can use 300watt so the same configuration can be utilized for multipurpose repair work

yes 60 watt can be used. in some conditions, it will not provide enough current. if light up. then use 2 lamps in parallel 60 watt each

looking at your circuitof the bench test, I was wondering why you would want to turn off the first bulb, the one I made have the bulb always connected, I just use 1 switch in parallel when I want full power

no 12 watt lamp will not allow to run the load. 60 watt or 100 watt lamp having 220 volt is the best choice as series lamp

it is a multipurpose series circuit, so we can add series load as per our requirement. for example while working on inverter welding machine we need ore current with compare to working on a tv power supply. for normal low wattage job we can use 100 watt series bulb for some PFC based power supplies, 100 watt is not enough then we can turn ON the second lamp if we need more current then we can turn on the 3rd lamp, in this case three parallel bulbs will in series of the load, so load can operate safely

exactly yes. these switches will provide lamps in series of the load

@@HaseebElectronics P=V^2/R, thus, 200w * 50 ohm =V^2, and V = 100 v voltage drop on both bulb (parallel). Did I calculate correctly? From here, we get Voltage is inversely proportional to resistor, limiting the current to the load.
