You ever catch Elder playing through Austin? They put on one of the best gigs I’ve seen in years.

I’ve actually played with them, once in Austin during SXSW, and once in California at a festival. We hit it off in the VIP lounge, they were tripping acid and asked for a ride back to the hotel. The three of them piled into the van with the five of us and we put on Bone Thugs n Harmony and passed around their bottle of vodka and our bottle of bourbon. Then, when we got back to the hotel, standing out front were Laura Pleasants, Bobby Liebling and Matt Pike. We partied in their hotel room and then I spent a couple hours smoking cigarettes and talking to Parker from Cough/Windhand while the Elder boys were sneaking into the hotel gym after hours and getting kicked out by the staff. It was a great time. Typing this story out now, I realize it sounds made up. But it was in fact one of the most memorable times in my life.
