If you want luxury, you must stay at The Leela Palace in New Delhi. We usually try to budget travel as much as possible, but after six weeks of traveling, we decided to splurge. From the airport pick-up to the food to the friendly staff, we felt thoroughly pampered. We enjoyed the buffets, the pool, and the weight room. Kelly was looking forward to the spa, but it was booked up…next time (because all of the options looked amazing)! If you travel to India with or without your family, you should treat yourself to The Leela Palace. If you live in India, this is a great place for a staycation! We are the Bags Packed Family: Jonathan and Kelly with our three children. We sold our home in Alaska, USA, eight years ago, and headed overseas. We are teachers and found fantastic teaching positions in India. Two years later, we moved to the United Arab Emirates. Three years after that, during the beginning of the pandemic, we made the move to our current teaching jobs in Indonesia. We love traveling and finding adventures as a family. If you want to get the real (Indian Royal Maharaja) feel, visit the luxury hotels in Rajasthan, they are out of this world and you will feel you have been transported back in time to the royal days. India is a such a big country you actually need a full whole year to explore, even then you will miss a lot of things, most tourists will not have this much time

Really , If you want , Check out a video called 'Most beautiful hotel in India , Udaipur' by Druve rathee vlogs , you will see the real beauty on ground ( even though it is in hindi). One of the best in the world.

I am so happy for Kelly that on this holiday she was able to have so many vegetarian options. I feel bad when she eats only rice and fried onions or something like that in Indonesia. I realized how much we lack vegetarian options in Indonesia when accompanying vegetarian clients to eat, especially if they do not eat eggs.

That 40%-60% stat is only 4 d North-West region, states like Rajasthan, Haryana, Gujarat etc. It's around 90% in d states of South, East & North-East India (where I am from). Overall, around 75-80% eat some form of non-veg. And I never said they're like Europeans, whether someone eats non-veg daily or once a month, as a whole meal or part of a thali...they're not considered vegetarian. India being mostly vegetarian is one of many myths/misconceptions/stereotypes abt d country based on foreigner's limited experiences being only in d tourist places near Delhi, rarely venturing into other regions of d diverse country.

Well what can I say, it seems that the fam had a blast checking out a lux hotel. I have enjoyed watching the whole family interact and go through India without any issues. I mean you did it all(family vacay trip) down there, you went to the streets, checked out street food, checked out great scenery and sites(though there's a tonn that was missed), tried local dishes (I know there's a tonn that was missed, but you did try what you can), went to religious sites, a water park, dined at the finest. What a great family vacation!

Try the Taj Hotel in Mumbai next time. One of my top favourite hotel there especially the old wing. So charming and beautiful. Stayed twice during my staycation with my partner and one of our japanese girl friend who used to live and worked in Singapore. We all got upgraded to the suite rooms. Also, the WildFlower Hall Oberoi in Shimla. You can enjoy breakfast facing the valley and their indoor pool is so beautiful with chandeliers.
