Absolutely! Job of the priestly class, however, is to relentlessly keep at it to make sure the civilizational spear burgeons beyond the subcontinent into the world. Whatever means needed military, political, media, finance - everything is a yantra for that singular goal. Never mind the judgement, acrimony etc they matter only in the mortal world.

हा लंपट नाना 17 ऑक्टोबर, 1760 ला म्हणजे पानीपत युद्धापूर्वी 90 दिवस अगोदर पुण्याहून 45000 ची फौज घेऊन सदाशिवराव भाऊच्या मदतीस निघाला व 27 डिसेंबरला हा पैठणला पोहोचून 9 वर्षाच्या मुलीशी स्वतःचे लग्न लावले व आपल्या बरोबर 6 सरदारांनीही लग्न उरकले व नंतर 5 दिवस म्हणजे 1 जानेवारी 1761 पर्यंत पैठणला हनीमून उरकला, तो काय लायकीचा माणूस असला पाहिजे याची कल्पनाच केलेली बरी!

It is important to understand the complete scenario before jumping to such conclusions. Yes, he married a 9 year old, but the marriage was never consummated, girls stayed with their parents even after getting married till they reached puberty. Nanasaheb died before that. The reason he married this girl was to get money from her father to fund the campaign, it was the condition laid before him. Even his first marriage was with a girl 5 years old and he was just 9. Shahu Maharaj decided on this. Good to know the complete picture, after that one is free to draw conclusions.
