Hi Gord ... good video I totally agree with you.. if I could get away with all the machines and there maintenance I might get more done. My little place is hilly and flat and bumpy and sandy and swampy with trees. Lol. So I talked to your friends at Farmers Equipment picked up the chipper just about finishing setup. Thanks for the information...good stuff. Happy Dominion Day. Lol. Ok Canada 🇨🇦 day.

Hello GP. Thank you for your video. Less is more is my motto these days. I too would like to reduce equipment. But alas, each on piece of equipment a reason. The JD Z turn is awesome on hills mowing sideways, but it is very hard on the body as a person is mowing. I love the AC Kubota Cab on my tractor and would much rather use that as much as possible. Maintenance on the property is also a consideration. I cannot do as much as I could in my younger days. Have a great weekend.

Maintenance is a big factor. Good decisions on what you have done. I'm BIG on maintenence procedures and equipment costs. And, another factor is maintaining from the "seat" or on my "feet". Seat time wins every time.

Great idea on recording in 4k. You are future proofing your videos for years, likely another 5 to 10 down the road, for people to be able to watch and it not look like 80's vhs footage to someone in say 2027.

Another excellent video GP, agree maintenance critical, but takes time. I work full time, run my own business, just spent a hour or 2 this morning, Aussie time, servicing, including the Honda ATV I use for work. Have both a B2601, MMM (better half prefers it) does most of the work, including the small paddocks, have 11 acres, and a ride on where the tractor cannot go. Keep up the good work.

Excellent video GP! I only have 1080 to watch videos but I do agree with you that making the 4k videos will benefit the viewers like me when I upgrade my system (need better internet service). I can't believe that you still haven't received your new Stihl 462, and I would also not be to impressed with paying the new rate when you ordered prior to the price increase. In my area there have been plenty of 500I's, 461's, 462's on the shelf over the past few months (note, it has been a couple of weeks since I was at the Stihl dealer here but they had some then and I did pick up a 461 about month and a half ago. Great advice on mowers and maintenance. I agree 100% on reducing it as much as you can because of the time and expense, plus storage for the equipment.

Good evening GP. I agree on the maintenance. I have two tractors JD and the Kubota a push mower a DR field brush mower two rototillers and a gas Weedwhacker .. Oh and 4 chainsaws.. hahaha It helps a lot I only use ethanol free gas on all my small engines.. so oil changes and greasing is the biggest maintenance I do.. I am starting to get a few battery powered tools.. so you are right on about your choices.. I hope you have a great weekend with the girls and Carol. Say hi for me and Sally. Hope you had a great Canada day.. Oh … cook something great on the grill.. Chef Gord 🥩🍔🌭🍤🍽😁 And enjoy the lake… As always stay safe and always be kind my friend.. Cheers

On the topic of maintenance, the FDR1660 is far lower maintenance than belly mowers. Need to change the blades or clean the deck? Just lift it up with straps and pallet forks and you can do it nearly sitting down or slightly crouching. No wrestling a >300lb deck off from under a tractor, no trying to get the mower up ramps to get 8" of clearance under the deck. Spindles are easy to replace as well with just four bolts once you undo the main drive belt.

I walked into my local Stihl dearer in New Brunswick and bought a MS250 off the shelf and they had lots and plenty of other models too... Maybe its worth talking to other dealers they may have what you're looking for in stock and be willing to ship to you. Good Luck GP.

Glad you mentioned the 4k. I didn't know my computer went beyond 1080 and it does. One tool I bought and use at least once a week is also low maintenance. It's a cheap Sun Jo 3 in 1 pole saw with an 8" cutting bar, hedge trimmer and weed whacker attachment heads, battery powered. I had to modify the weed whacker to accept .065 cutting string. What it came with was something like .060 and I couldn't find replacement line that small. I have about 200' of hedges to trim and I get it done with about 50% charge life still in the 24v battery. Best Regards, Jay

FYI Gord...I recently received my LX2610 and just want to let you know the engine whining noise does not exists on my model. There is a fix, and they might have made it in Japan. Love the tractor...Only annoying for me is the tilt steering pops out every once in awhile
@GPOutdoors
@GPOutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
Good morning Duco! Congratulations and great to hear about the noise. That's good news. The tilt - it has happened a few times to me but I believe it was because I tried to apply it too fast. In other words, If i make a deliberate action of pushing the pedal and adjusting the wheel while my foot is still depressed and then lift my foot, and rock the wheel, i will feel and hear it lock into the position - then it does not move. If I do those steps too fast, I have found it has skipped up on me a couple of times. I assume I was possibly lifting my foot up too early. Hope that helps!

About your comment on ordering something and then the price goes up before it comes in. I ordered a flail mower and it took almost a year to come in to my dealer, my dealer was telling me that the price had gone up $400.00 but since I paid in full when I ordered it, my dealer said he wasn't going to charge me more. He also told me he actually makes $200 on the sale so since the price went up he was going to have to work with the supplier to see if he could still just break even or it might cost him $200 in the long run if they wouldn't work with him. Crazy world we live in. He also said because of this he wouldn't be excepting full payments on ordered items anymore and would only require non refundable down payments and what ever the price is when it comes in the customer would have to pay or lose their deposit. That's just crazy to me.

If all you have to do is yard maintenance, then something like what Gord has can be fabulous. If you need something to lift round bales, or do haying, or requires significant ground engagement, then it'll be nice to have something much bigger AND Gord's 2610. lol The neighbor who just passed away in the new year, had about a dozen tractors, some going back as far as old Averys and the newest being a Kubota. His strategy was to have a slew of differing tractor sizes to tackle various sized tasks. Getting a tractor stuck is a 'rite of passage'. Depending upon if conditions were dicey, he'd never send the largest one in first, as it's much easier to tow out a smaller tractor with a larger one, than vice versa.

Hi GP! Great topic today. I have been slowly moving to electric powered tools and vehicles over the last few years. #1 reason is maintenance. but now, a strong #2 is the price of fuel. I have electric (and gas) powered chain saws, electric trimmer, electric zero-turn mower, electric leaf blower, and electric weed whip. In addition I sold my ATV and bought an electric golf cart, and now own an electric car. I can power all that electric stuff from my solar array, so in effect, I am running all that (and power my home) from the power of the sun. I just love it!. It seems like the way of the future. Great video, Thanks for making it! Cheers!

Hi GP. A Happy Canada day to you & your family. Great point on keeping your maintenance items controlled and to a minimum. Hopefully when your saw comes in your dealer will honor the price when you ordered it and not the current prices. Question on your finish mower. I noticed when you connected the lower 3 point arms that the two bolts attached to the mower arms moved around loose. Do they always float around like that ? If they do I would be worried that they would egg shape over time.

Morning Dan. I hope they do too. But I guess we will see. The mower - Yes, they do - it is designed to float or articulate so the mower follows the undulations of the ground. I guess we will see in time whether they become mis-shapen over time. So far, so good. Happy Independence Day weekend!

I've noticed often in more recent videos that you are using a hearing protection headset instead of your iSO Tunes earbuds. Curious as to why. I've been doing the same for the reason that my fingers struggle with the controls when I want to listen to music while working.

Good morning Raymond. Good catch. A couple of reasons - my daughter likes my ISOtunes and often forgets to put them back in my bag so I get north and find them missing - (honest - LOL!). The second reason is because I keep trying to use the different ones I have to help gain experience and inform the opinions that I share with you good folks. But hands down, love the ISOTunes - they are still my favorite overall. I think I need to buy her her own pair...:)) Cheers!

I forgot to ask. We have our Landpride FDR 1660 mounted on the quick hitch. Noticed your mower is not on a quick hitch. Any reason it is not on a quick hitch?

Hi JH. I find it is so easy to connect without the QH, that I just always pin it direct. If I used the QH, I would need to extend it out on a shallow angle in order to allow the top Link articulating bracket to float properly over the ground. No other reason. Cheers

Hey GP anyone have any suggestions on what’s the best rotary cutter for the lx2610? How do you like the one you have? Do you wish you looked into another one or happy with this one

Good morning Dave. I wish I could tell you which is best - I like this one alot - 3 blades etc. If I had areas that had brush etc as well as the front lawn i would have considered a flail mower but I really only have grass to mow. Good luck Dave!

Hi GP, we have the 72" version of that mower and it does a great job on the open area's of the Homestead, but getting closer to house, where i have some slops, i have a used 22hp / 48" Craftsman I picked up used & it does the trick... that Ferris (which is built about an hour from my location) is sweet, but to me it's a one trick pony & is a bit of an overkill for me... God Bless & Stay Safe Buddy...Chief..{NYS/ADK}

Hey Gord, why don't you use your ISO tunes anymore?

LOL. I do - when my daughter remembers to put them back in my bag - she keeps stealing them. But also because I like to keep using different units to gain experience using them over time. Helps me to form better opinions on the pros and cons of each. Have a great long weekend!

If you're going to put steel siding and roof on your shed, does it really matter if you use pressure treated lumber for the frame?

A good question B - I think it does - it will be an open shed - just a smaller version of the bigger one I park the tractor in. So it will still be exposed to the weather. The one I currently have still looks like the day we built it 6 years ago. Have a great long weekend!

Hey GP, nice video. I had a few questions if you don't mind. Currently have a b2601 and love it. Wanting to upgrade to a cab as well. I manly do loader work, brush cutting with a 4 and 5 foot LP rotary cutter, and a 4 foor tiller. Very few times I felt like I needed more power and it was manly with a 5ft rotary cutter in tall wet grass. To my understanding both 26hp models have different engines. The LX2610 cab has a larger 3 banger. Have you felt with ac running that your down on power compared to the B2601 while under a load etc? Large price difference between LX26 and LX33 and emissions. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic myself I'd prefer to stay away when planning on keeping the tractor for years. Thank you for your time. Just don't want to make a costly mistake. We rely on the smaller tractor to cut the edges of our fields and tight areas in WV. If you have any more pointers I much appreciate 🙏

Good morning and thanks for the Q's. Honestly, I have not noticed at all. I almost always have either AC or heat running - The PTO HP is the same on both machines as you know so I imagine you would see similar performance - I have not felt any noticeable difference so far but i also don"t run anything like a bush hog. Wish I could help more but wish you all the best with the new tractor!
