Sub-1 hour hardcore glitchless run made possible by the new unstuck feature.
There are dumb mistakes but it's still a pretty cool run I suppose.
The "unstuck" menu item was added in the December 2022 update. The game keeps track of 10 of your previously visited locations and each use of unstuck brings you backwards to each of them. On the 11th unstuck the game brings you to the last base you exited. The game also won't add your location to the unstuck queue while inside certain alien bases. All of this is useful for warping long distances.
Unstuck is currently allowed in glitchless categories. I only used it for large time saves here. It can be used to save a small amount of time in far more places but I felt like that would get annoying for everyone, especially me.
Also new in this run is the use of a tool "LiveSplit Ship Explosion Information (1.0)" developed by some fine folks in the Subnautica speedrun discord. This tool is an addon for Livesplit that shows the current Aurora explosion time at the start of the game rather than having to find out many minutes into the run. This tool is available at www.speedrun.com/subnautica/resources.
In my experience it cuts the time needed to grind for a WR candidate run by 10x or more. I feel weird using it, but it's allowed in runs so I'd be wasting time by not using it.

If you have the beginning of the game down, you can def rush out a cyclops in under 30 minutes. You just have to skip on a few things you wouldn't normally want to skip.

great run. I have a question. I don't quite understand the aurora explosion time. Is it random, or dominated by some mechanisms? coz when I tried my run last time, the explosion was after 1 hour.

The explosion happens at a random time between 46-80 minutes picked at the start of each run. The first radiation warning you get from your PDA happens at 1/5th of the explosion time, so if you get the warning at 12 minutes, the explosion would happen at 60 minutes into the run. In the past we'd reset at that warning a lot until we get a low explosion time but now they're allowing a Livesplit plugin that shows the explosion time at the start.

That was a super impressive speedrun, and mad props for beating it without eating a single fish. Because of the abuse of the unstuck feature, I cannot call this a glitchless speedrun. The devs didn't intend for the unstuck feature to be used this way, because of this I'd consider that to be a glitch.

It's probably unintended by the developers however the collision not being there before the aurora explodes *which he explains in a video is what happens* is kind of a fault on the developers and unlike the unstuck button isn't controversial enough to be argued against because the collision not being there for a certain period of time at the start really isn't him abusing a glitch it's that the collision simply isn't there yet It could also technically be argued the collision may have been intentionally added in after the aurora explosion as some sort of collapse sort of like how you can get kind of close to the aurora at the start without a radiation suit before it explodes because the radiation hasnt been shot everywhere yet

He broke it down in the description of this run but here's the short of it since I was wondering the same thing. The devs made the "Unstuck button" log your last 10 visited coordinates in the game based on certain criteria. Every time you press Unstuck it will essentially warp you to those ten locations from most to least recent. On the 11th unstuck usage it will send you to the last constructed "base" that you were inside of. It's not a glitch, but a feature placed in by the devs so it is allowed in the glitchless category.
