Thank you so much for sharing this. I can't wait to use this in the field. I take my 5D Mark III with me during runs with my running crew. At the end of the run I have too many photos and was scrolling through all the eye-fi images. This will save me so much time!

The SanDisk Extreme are perfect. I have now shots 100s of hours of video with those cards and never a problem. 32GB if best size for shooting lots of video. I just added a link under the video for those. Happy to answer more questions.

I have made many tests, for example: I have used a "SD / SDHC / MMC / Eye-Fi card to Compact Flash CF Type II Adapter" with different cameras such as Olympus E-510, or Canon 7D, and the connection to the home WIFI has been good. Finally I inserted the Eye-fi SD card without adapter on the Canon 5-D, and .... today it works, is connected. Well, all right, I'll need more research on how the card works, but MANY THANKS for your help.

Please help! I have the same camera 5D mk iii, and a W-E1 Card but the Eye Fi doesn’t show up in my Camera menu? I have the latest Firmware 1.3.6. It should work like yours but doesn’t do I have the wrong card? Not sure what to do next?

You have the T4i? I'd go with the 60D so you don't have to learn a new system but either camera is capable of producing very good video.

If you are doing direct to your computer you have to be within Wifi range - 100 feet roughly. There are other ways to set that up though including relay mode where it uses ANY hotspot to go up to the cloud and then down to your computer.

I love the 5D3, I especially like how this camera was designed from the ground up. They covered all the bases from 100%, It is though the enjoyment of onwership comes from a sense of engineering completeness. It is going to be interesting how Canon will superesede this model, Thanks for the post

Great tutorial. I love this setup and my colleagues are drooling. THANK YOU! ONE TIP FROM MY EXPERIENCE: Remove the card when shooting video on the 5D Mark III. I’ve found it will record video onto the MOBI card, instead of the CF. Dunno why it does records there, but I know my CF is better suited for video.

Hello. Great info. I've followed your instructions, however. my 'rate' option is not selecting only "locked" shots, but continues to load all photos from the 5DmIII to the iPhone 5S.

Hello! Great video. Are you able to send a picture in your gallery (Using the rate button), to your phone, using a D7200? I know the d7200 doesn't have a rate button, but can you do the same while using one of the custom buttons? Thank you!

Are you shooting JPEG only, most of the eye-fi cards do not transfer RAW files, or maybe you have not enabled RAW file transfer>?

Hi Kristers - make sure you are writing JPEGS to the SDCard/EyeFi. What transfer mode are you using? Protected? Make sure playback in 5DM3 is set to SDcard too so when you rate the image you are rating the JPEG. Let me know. I also know that the Eye-Fi support guys are very helpful.

Thanks for the video! However, what's missing is not explaining this only works with the Pro X2 card and not the Mobi card. From the Eye-Fi website: "You can use the Transfer Mode Panel to choose how you want your Eyefi card to upload photos & videos. Depending on the kind of Eyefi card you have, you will see either two or three tabs: Selective Transfer, Relayed Transfer, and Endless Memory (only available on X2 cards)."

Even though I use the rating button to protect an image, all of my images get transferred to my iPhone. How do I stop that? Also, I have to reconnect on my iPhone through settings to the Eyefi wifi every time I ship a new photo. Is there a way to stay connected? One other problem is that I can connect to the eyefi wi-fi one minute and not the next. Any suggestions with that? Thanks for your help.

Hi Ellen, In the software on your computer you can setup selective transfer - only transfer when you protect the image. You can also set the length of time for the eye-fi and your phone to stay connected. You want to be careful as this can really drain your battery if you set it up for longer periods. I have found that sometimes the wireless connection can be picky but it usually works for me. You might want to reach out to the eye-fi support folks, they are very responsive.

It depends on what kind of eye-fi that you have. For example, I have the Eye-FI Mobi 8GB card and it does not allow to do select transfers. Instead I disable my card while out on the field. After going through the photos I delete the ones I do not want to transfer on the camera and enable the transfer. Hope that helps.

Hello Toby, I am a new user of a 5D3 and Eye-Fi card, but unfortunately I can't do a correct setting because when I choose the option "connection info", it appears the text "not connected". The situation is like the second 3:20 in this video, except because this situation is permanent. I have tried the EYE-FI card with a Panasonic DMC-TZ8 and it run correctly. What can I do?. Having the same problem....mark 3 + eye fi (for small jpg) shows "not conected" tried everything, enabling, disabling, reinstalling my android eye fi soft, nothing! Can you please explain if there is any special thing to do to make it conect? Before I had 5d mark 2 + the same eye fi in the adaptor..well the combination had it's lags but it worked even in the midle of the wood... EzShare 16Gb wifi card + my new 5d mark 3 doesn't even show it's a wifi...

Yep - I just tested it and here is a cellphone pic of back of my camera - problem is cell phone pic makes it look way worse but the cats whisker is sharp and you can see how far I am zoomed in the little box cl.ly/image/2s0E383t1n1n

5DM3 - less moire and headphone jack for getting real feedback on your audio. Price of 5DM3 has come down and is in reasonable territory.

Is there anyway to shoot raw and jpeg on the cf card and s1 on the sd card all at the same time, or is it either raw or jpeg on the cf card?

Shoot - I don;t think you can, I just tried a couple of differnt attempts and if you want different recorded to each card you can't do RAW + Jpeg on the same card. Unless you reocrd that to both. So on the CF you can do RAW + JPEG but you also have to do that on the SD CARD. Or you can do RAW on the CF and JPEG on the SD but. That help? Its confusing heh?

I know the moire is a issue ....but i record audio externally anyways. The headphone Jack won't be used. I'm still struggling on which to get. Moire can be dealt with i feal....hmmmm decision$.

Cat If you have them going straight to your computer you can set Lightroom to auto watch a folder, File > Auto Import set that to the folder the Eye-Fi images are landing in.

Cathy Jones You need to set selective transfer up on the computer and check the option - Protected images. Then when you take a photo only when you protect an image will it transfer
