Genius! He took her into a store, knowing full well they didn’t need anything and weren’t going to buy anything, just to get her into the light (because it’s free in the store) so that he could capture her. And he had these little moments when he engaged with Christina. And when she wasn’t paying attention he would just follow her, show the viewer what he saw... and just when she may have suspected that she was on camera, or being watched, or whatever, he engaged with her again. He was able to make his subjects forget the camera, and he showed his viewers how he saw things.

You couldn't say that better! Nelson asked a few things while she was going down with her slow talk. My friend Eddie died of AIDS in 1989 on Heroin and sharing needles...he was to go into euphorias, picking on things that were not there...usually bugs crawling on him. @commenter78933 жыл бұрын
@@thomasbeebe-wurzer3061 mentally ill is mostly a social construct except in true illnesses like alzheimers and dementia. Schizophrenia on the other hand can be a label for people who are simply different or act a certain way due to trauma or want to act strange. It’s a catch all subjective construct.
@matthewbelike3 жыл бұрын
@@commenter7893 No actually it’s not. You claim that someone who is acting abnormally is simply what schizophrenia is, but that is not what schizophrenia is. Schizophrenia is a psychiatric disorder that can be developed due to substance use, trauma, and/or because someone is genetically prone to developing it. Many people with schizophrenia have experienced a traumatic event (or events) in their life that has caused their brain to stop working correctly. If you are seeing a giant spider thats legs sound like children laughing as it walks then how is that not a true neuropsychiatric disorder? When something is neuropsychiatric, that means that it is a psychiatric disorder that is affecting someone neurologically. With schizophrenia someone can experience auditory hallucinations, visual hallucinations, and hallucinations with their sense of touch, smell, and taste. By saying that it is purely a social construct and that it is not a true medical issue you are downplaying the severity of it. Not to mention the fact that it is medically inaccurate to claim such things and is not in line with the consensus. There is so much going wrong physiologically in the brain of someone with a psychotic disorder. Take for example someone with depression or a depressive disorder. Depression can cause the dendrites of the neurons (which is what connects one neuron to the next to send the electrical signal over to the next neuron) to become longer than normal. This is what causes a person with depression to feel slow and can make the person feel “stupid” compared to how much more efficiently they used to be able to think. Depression can also shrink the brain (brain atrophy) and antidepressants can help slow that down enough to where it’s hardly an issue anymore. Another example of the neurological effects of psychiatric disorders is psychopathy. Psychopaths have an abnormally small prefrontal cortex, which is what is thought to be the cause of their lack of a capacity of empathy. Empathy is a good measure of someone’s emotional intelligence, and if they have poor empathy then they would be considered emotionally unintelligent. So there are many physiological aspects of psychiatry and psychiatric-mental health disorders. Psychiatry and psychiatric-mental health is not a subjective construct or a social construct. Maybe you’re thinking of psychology. Psychology is a social science and deals with more subjective things, but psychiatry is a medical specialty and is objective. The only subjective part of psychiatric-mental health is the fact that, just like any other disorder of the body, not everyone will experience all of the symptoms of one disorder. One person with schizophrenia may have more problems with the delusional aspects of it, while another may have more problems with the hallucinations. It’s also important to remember that schizophrenia is not an extremely common disorder. Most of my patients that are having psychotic issues are experiencing drug induced psychosis. The point of me saying all of this is that you are giving medically inaccurate information and are downplaying the severity of a psychiatric disorder that can be detrimental to someone’s life. Don’t contribute to the reason that psychiatric disorders are downplayed, invalidated, and aren’t taken seriously.
@commenter78933 жыл бұрын
@@matthewbelike I accept that not everyone labeled as schizophrenic is healthy. Some may have neurological or genetic issues. But I still maintain that schizophrenia is a construct that have many arbitrary and deeply subjective characteristics with a lot of sociocultural bias. Take for example the case of a homeless man in Hawaii who was repeatedly deemed delusional by psychiatrists and forcibly medicated for saying his name and that he was not the person they thought he was. He was held in the mental hospital for two years, until the Innocence Project made an investigation and easily determined that the man was saying the truth and the person who the psychiatrists thought he was actually was in jail in Alaska. That outrageous case just proves how subjective and unscientific psychiatry and the judgment of delusion can be.

It's sad but I get a very Leaving Las Vegas sort of vibe from these videos with Christina. Knowing her background, how her parents paid her to stay out of their city and how she refused treatment for schizophrenia, I have a feeling that she was basically on a passive suicide mission at this stage, and may have moved to NYC with that general objective, just take Calligulan amounts of drugs and whatever would happen would happen. She just seems...already checked out of life in most of these, and I can't say I blame her given the circumstances. :-(

@@haidengeary8277 I've seen no evidence whatsoever that he had AIDS, or that he was even HIV positive. What is your source for that statement?
@Consistentlycrazy Жыл бұрын
@@haidengeary8277Nelson didn't have HIV. He died from a heart attack at a young age just like his dad so it sounds more like a hereditary thing. He didn't have aids though

love how Nelson treated Christina he really was able to deal with her mental health issues. Love how Nelson tells her come your going to loose the table and when he says I don t know what to get I don t know what I need and the way Christine still does not take advantage of Nelson. To think that they would both be gone within 2 months

I don't know how to explain this feeling but when I was watching this video I felt so emotional just to know this night walk was few weeks before this cute man die. Thank you mr. Nelson for these videos! ❤

I love watching the people in the background of his videos be so astonished that he’s holding a camera and talking to it. It’s like they’ve never seen one before.

You know everytime the video's that he made stops, just feels like a small jolt. Kind of just want it to go on continously. It would have been the best Truman show.

Last I read, Dick Richards was the one uploading them. He died in 2018 of leukemia. I’ve heard there is more footage, but it’s doubtful (imo) it will ever be uploaded.

Haha, at 9:25 she walks in with her cigarette lit and there is a non smoking sign to her right. That would not fly today lol. And then Nelson says he doesn't know what he wants because he's not hungry. Of course not, he just had a burger and fries.
