Thank you for this video, I have some questions. If I need to remove starter to get to right plug, How many times do I need to remove the right engine block plug? Just in the beginning when I am removing all coolant? or on every step? Question 2 is when you re install the thermostat at end of flush, do you install new thermostat or just use the old one. How often do you recommend flushing your radiator?

He very thorough, and I personally would love him working on my truck opposed to you for sure! I get sick and tired of the dealerships cutting corners on service work! The customer is the last thing that matters to most mechanics these days. Its all about the dollar to them, but truth be know, I would pay the extra money gladly to know that the job was done right!

I did the full flush just like you showed here and I have more respect for people working on larger rigs. I always thought bigger truck meant more room to put stuff, so it'd be easier. Forgot that they are bigger rigs because there is more to them, and the stuff on them is usually big. Glad that job is done... until next year that is

Is this safe to do if I've already had my oil cooler changed a couple of years ago? I'm going to flush my coolant system and install a Sinister Diesel brand coolant filter. I just don't want to free up any iron deposits or other junk in the radiator by using VC-9 that will get trapped in my new oil cooler. Also, do you still recommend the Ford motorcraft premium gold coolant (I've heard bad things about it)? If I'm using the VC-9 to clean out the system why not just switch over to Shell Rotella or CAT brand ELC or equivalent coolant? Thanks for your videos!

You can flush the cooling system before or after the oil cooler replacement. As long as you follow my video for flushing the cooling system, you not cause any damage to the new oil cooler. By draining from the block plugs and removing the thermostat, no debris should enter the new cooler.

Old video, old comments... but I have to say AGrandahl is 100% correct. Do NOT use Ford Gold coolant, even if Ford recommends it. It has silicates. That's what clogs oil coolers. Use CAT EC-1 ELC or Shell Rotella ELC, or any CAT EC-1 rated ELC coolant. They have no silica.

Can you use this flush procedure with the 6.4L??? My local dealer wants somewhere in the ballpark of 160+ for a Coolant flush.. I can tell you right now that I highly doubt that the procedure you did is what they do for that amount of money especially if you are running the truck for a few hours.. if you are following a Ford procedure why wouldn't all Ford dealer service centers do this. I need some direction to go in regards to flushing and refilling my 6.4L. I do not have the lift system you are talking about. if you can help/send a link/ have video that would be great thank you. How about testing the coolant with the strips.. where can I get these strips? My Ford parts center looked at me like I had 3 heads when I asked to buy some strips to check my coolant.

I appreciate the videos, not just these but all the Ford vids. I do have a question. You mention removing the starter each time you need to pull the block plug. What tool setup do you use to get around this? Obviously if removing the starter were the easy way you'd do it in the videos. But I'd say it likely saves time doing it your way. If you could share this info I'd appreciate it.

Hello, I did your flush as you did however, on your one step further, I have the hose in the degas bottle and have good flow. I start the truck and give it fuel, but I have no pressure change. I have checked the water pump and inspected the ports behind, no clogs. Why would the pressure not change? Something plugged? Thank you for your time.

Look up Ford tsb08-23-01 Because I don't want to waste my time, if I remember right, customer pay is about 7.5 hrs. This is a very necessary procedure to save the customer time and money in the long run. That's what we do this for-The Customer.

Ok, so how much labor are you getting paid to do this flush? It seems based on this video your talking about a three or four hour cooling system flush. How do you make a living flushing a cooling system for four hours when your only going to flag an hour labor for the job? I understand in extreme conditions when the system is rusted up you can get extra labor hours but this is rediculous how long you take to do it. Is this your own truck? And besides your coolant was clean to begin with

Is ti safe to drain those chemicals out onto the ground like you did? Are they biodegradable? Man, my service manager would fire me if he saw me dumping a cooling sytem onto the ground even if it's just water. Everyone has an opinion on polution and when you work at a dealer you never know who is watching you. I think you would have been wiser to have a drain pan under that truck and not video taped yourself dumping that chemical filled water onto the pavement.
