Is it possible to replace standpipe and dummy plug o-rings without buying new pipes?

Yes the teflon spacer is important but I believe its even more importanter to determine the material type of the oring itself. You're looking for viton orings. They're much more robust and tear resistant than the typical rubber or nitrile type

here's a stupid question, but one i cant find an answer to anywhere. Is it possible to accidently put the dummy plug and 2 piece stand pipe in the wrong location? for example, can the long pipe go in the Dummy plug location?

The dummy plug can fit in either hole since there the same thread pattern but no the actual 2 piece stand pipe is the back plug on both sides of the engine. Where the the dummy plug is at upfront on the rail there is a block off bolt that seals that up to make the system work if that makes sense
