I figured out it was the after-market pulley. The diameter was larger than OEM. Once I put the factory pulley on, the belt was installed in less than 30 minutes.

@PowerStroke Tech Talk w/ARod, This video was a game changer in the way the routing of the belt goes. The key like you said is how you start it on the tensioner pulley, then from there its just working it around all the others and watching alignment. Thanks for another great video and taking the time to teach.

Hello 👋. Helpful. But here’s an idea. Whenever I change serpentine belts. Before I start. I take the new belt out of package. Take it outside and lay or hang it in the sunlight. It heats it up and takes out the packaging bends. And make it easer to install. Will work good in the southern shop. It’s sunny there 😮🥵. Enjoy your day. Jeff. Sc.

Even with the upper fan shroud out, this job was a F'in bastard on my single HD alternator '11. To top things off, I couldn't find the proper belt routing anywhere. After about an hour and scraping my forearms all to sh*t, I got it figured out. Glad I did the bridge, both idlers, the belt and tensioner all at the same time. That little electrical connector for the fan also cost me about 20mins. WOULD NOT come apart. Glad I'll never have to do it again on this truck... Have a good night G, -Adrenacyde

I replaced idler pulley and alternator so I never took the belt completely off but now i can’t get it back on. I’m thinking but might be from using a 3/8 long ratchet instead of the tool because I can’t get enough slack to get the belt on. I measured the belts and they were the same but I feel like I’ve got it around all but the last one but I feel like it’ll be impossible to get it around that last one. Or…that tensioner must have a lot of release i guess? Haven’t put a big enough bar on it to give it a good pull…

Why is the length for the 2012'. 138"in and 2011'. 126"in. Both are single alternator. 2011 is double sided, and short with the same belt diagram. Talk about drive you crazy. I put the left side and the tensioner on. Go under the crank. Around the water pump, and power steering, under the right idler. The I stop take the belt off the left auxiliary water pump. And take the tension off. Belt refuses to go around the alternator. Driving me nuts. Been stranded with a load for 3 days.

Thank you for the video. I was going to change the belt and a tensioner because of a squeal at about a 1000 rpms and acceleration then stops. In reading your replies below it seems as though the sound mainly coming from the old belt rather than a tensioner or idler? I know that all situations are different but not wanting to buy and install parts for the heck of it. Can you explain a little more on trouble shooting the noise belt verses tensioner or idlers (2014). Thank you

So after watching this I have tried several more times to get the belt on with no avail. I have the same “part” per ford parts the match what your using in the video but I don’t have nearly as much play as is in this video. Could use a tip or do I need a different belt. I have a 2012 350 super duty single alt. Ran the belt the “exact” same way but when trying to to pull belt over the second water pump the belt is located below the middle of the pulley and will not attempt to flex enough to go over.

I installed the right side idler pulley (near the alternator) to the wrong mounting hole which looks like kind of triangle, arrow shape. Nice. How did you bump it over without it starting? I know back in the day you had the starter wire on the passengers side wheel well area. Not sure how to correctly bump over a 6.7 without yanking fuses (not that I would do that, just never had to do it, yet)! Even crazier, I have push-button start.

I have 2019 6.7. I can't slide the belt behind the bracket like you did because the wire runs along the bracket and up the front of the engine. Can't figure out how to undo the wire harness. Don't want to brake it.

PowerStroke Tech Talk w/ARod - I know, I know, harsh. But it’s because I love the videos so much...... Speaking of, I found this one in particular because yesterday my 2019 f450 lost brakes and power steering at the same time.....right when a school bus was barreling toward me. Yikes! My tubby ass was standing on the brakes with both feet, and couldn’t do any real braking. The steering was so heavy it would take four grown ass men to operate it. Well, crisis averted, I got the truck parked, then towed to the dealer. They called & said an animal probably got caught in the belt and now I need a new one. But of course they don’t have one. Anyway, was looking into the belt change process because the bill is around $460 so far. Keep up the cool, useful & easy to understand videos bubba.
