Can confirm 100 percent as a amateur who dabbled in bjj back in military, skill is more important. Equal skill different weight class will make a huge difference but if a guy smaller than you have more skill the big guy with no skills will most likely lose. I was 5'8 220 lbs muscle bound guy in navy, I lost to a guy about 20 lbs lighter than me with shorter frame, And he taught me many moves after that to counter it. Now a days I'm still amateur since I don't have a proper friend group to train me anymore and I don't have the money or time to go to any dojo or gyms, but next deployment I'm planning on setting up a little open matt crew where all the military members can practice bjj. always a useful technique to have whether you are a pro or civilian.

Im a big guy, trained judo, JJ, sambo and some boxing. Im 190cm, 140kg. That about 6'3 and 300 pounds, something like that. I destroy little guys, but once I get tired its over. We had a training session with one guy that was like 150 pounds and other was about 120 pounds, leg kick from me to the 150 guy was like car hitting him, and the 120 pound guy coundt do anything, I laid on him and he could get out, but after I was tired that 150 guy got me, don't remember what it was, armbar or chock or I just tapped, but I could lift my arms anymore I was so tired. So if a small guy attacks I take him down and he is done, but if I fail and he is well trained, after about 15 minutes, I am done. Just too much mass to keep oxygenated and if you are in worse shape, then you got maybe 5min, but you have to survive that 5min and you have to have skill.

I haven't seen a worse fighter than the big guy anytime soon. He did everything wrong from the very start! Sidestepping and retreating from little guy's punches, failing to press and dictate the distance. Then this long overhand that forced the big guy back several steps instead of just taking it on the gloves, then the obvious double leg little guy did from the other side of the cage and the complete lack of understanding for the big guy of positioning and what to do next until a very awkward armbar which was relatively easy to defend in that position. For God's sake, he was half a meter taller and TWICE the size and weight... should've taken the center and punish any attempt of takedowns by the little guy, KOing him with one or two good punches instead of what he did.

@ValenG4430 Жыл бұрын
