@@m.o.5291 Lol, it does have that H/UFO kind of shape, and the caseback juts out, so it stands tall on the wrist. I also don't love that it's all polished - a bit of brushing would really set it off, like is the case on the SNKL series. But still an awesome watch

Good work. I also suggest the SNXS77, the blue sunburst dialed version of the SNXS79. You can pick any of the watches you listed and change the dial colour and you’ll have an equally classy watch.

Very true, the SNXS77 looks amazing. Seiko really nails blue sunburst even at this price point. Many companies don't. But that's Seiko in a nutshell for you

On new year i just bought my 1st mechanical watch. As you said SNKL23 and its silver counterparts are very expensive compared to original when buying new. I manage to snag a used SNK355 for a little less than USD50, and immediately replace its thrash bracelet with strap. So yeah i am starting my journey.

Recently picked up a SNKD99K1 and I absolutely love it. Ordered it online and didn't really know what to expect from it, but I was really impressed for the price. It feels robust and the blue dial looks great. I don't mind the bracelet too much, although it isn't the best quality.

The bracelet he threw it on is by a brand called Romaly & is available on AliExpress. I've one coming in the mail. I'm worried it'll look stupid owing to its thickness - the SNXS79K has really thin lugs - and I hate how little the bracelet tapers. The stock bracelet is decent, but I wish it had polished center links. I have mine on an 11-dollar jubilee, and it looks bitching (19 to 16mm taper), but the color of the steel doesn't match well & the bracelet is thicker than the lugs. Bla!

The SeIko SNXS79 is good looking watch and gets better with Rolamy strap. I personally feel it would have looked awesome if the the dial was sunburst black instead of grey.

Story time: I grew up in Urmia Iran. This is 1985. We went to the salt lake of Urmia. Salinity is insane. Both grandpa's were in the water. One used to wear a generic watch, the other one a Seiko 5 from the 70s. I was only 8 years old. He had it on while in the water. As he floated over salty water I noticed he had his watch, seiko 5 still on. I said grandpa, why did my other grandpa took off his watch and you still have yours on in this water? He said " cause it's not a sissy watch like his" . I want that watch. It was 36mm bezel.

That is rare these days; 37mm, if you don't mind, are much easier to find. 36mm you will need to find much older, vintage Seiko 5 models.

The Orient Tristar line are incredibly similar, just as well made with the same reliability as the Seiko's but costs a lot less. Some will say Orient are part of Seiko. Yes both are under the same company but are independent of one another. I now prefer many of the Orient watches over Seiko, especially over the Seiko 5 range.
