Hi Tina, Thank you for your generous spirit in sharing your knowledge:😇. I’ve been Sopa-making for almost 8 years now as a direct response to the chemical nasties in commercially produced ‘soap’. As such, I am quite shocked to find how many Soapers use chemical ingredients. Sodium Lactate, Titanium Dioxide (which has recently been attributed to Liver Cancer), and all those artificial colourants & glitters. None of those ingredients are necessary, nor good for us. Skin being permeable - anything applied to our skin may enter our bloodstream.. And it is well known that a high percentage of ingredients used in the cosmetics ‘industry’ are not healthy - they are cheap. Stands to reason that anything that produces the ‘glitter’ effect, would not be ideal to apply to skin. My major concern with these ingredients, is that they all end up in the Water Table, &/or the ocean, where Sea Life is already struggling with what we dump into the ocean =: () How wonderful it would be if Soapers, generally, became Warriors for Good. For the good of ourselves, our customers, & our precious & precarious environment. If Soapers kept the micas, oxides, artificial colours,, & glitters etc for Art Works; and instead harnessed their creative ingenuity for special effects in their soaps. How glorious that would be! And boycott cheap ‘n nasty GMO oils that I see many soapers not only using, but recommending =;() Regrettably, the vast majority of Soap-makers that I see presenting their videos, here on KZbin, are not ‘all natural’. Let us turn those statistics on their head, & work together, All Soapers, in our independent ways, to lead the Charge for Good. Meanwhile “Happy Soaping, All” 😌 In Gratitude & Appreciation for you, Tina, and each & every Soaper out there 💗 ~Brigid~

Hi Tina. Love your videos! I have a question. The preservatives, we don't need these even when oatmeal or any other food is used to make soaps? Thanks for your prompt response!
@TinaMoenck6 жыл бұрын
Ana Espinal No preservatives are needed with bar soap :) The alkaline pH of 9-10 inhibits the growth of mold and bacteria. And water is what degrades products, but it cures out of bar soap. Other products that are water based like lotions need a preservative.

Can we use cornstarch at Trace in CP soaps?
@TinaMoenck6 жыл бұрын
Some people use it to anchor scents to help them last longer. You mix cornstarch in with your essential oil first then add at trace. usage is 1/2 tsp PPO.
