If you don't like being on a budget call it a spending plan instead. That feel different.

Giving does not have to be about money. You can also donate your time to a cause of your choice. I don't hear you mention this. It can be much more rewarding too 🙂

Tithing is a Biblical principal and is literally off your income. AND we're to give of our time and talent as we're lead ON TOP OF that. It's not a choice if you're a Christian to do either of these. It's an instruction from the Lord.

One lesson I've learned from millionaires is to always put your money to work, no matter how small. Even investing $100 per month can compound to tremendous wealth over decades. The key is to keep going!

I believe every Investor should start with ETFs for a solid foundation, then diversify across asset classes and maintain disciplined, regular investing to minimize risks and maximize growth.

Very true, I diversified my portfoli0 across multiple market with the aid of an investment advis0r, I have been able to generate over $900k in net profit across growth stocks, dividend stocks & ETFs.

The key is diversification. Personally, I delegate my day-to-day investing to a license advis0r, cos my job doesn't permit the time to analyze stocks myself and thankfully, my portfoli0 has now 5X in 5 years, just about 10% shy of $1m. Stay positive friends.

Before i came across the Ramsey show and you and your dad, I worked 3 jobs last year to get all my debt paid off. I had a job that was contract and I knew it was (possibly) ending in august so I did everything I could, which included putting every penny into paying off the debt but still being able to pay for my regular monthly bills and food for me and my animals. I got the debt paid off in September but I still had the 2 jobs. I paid off ALL my debt, minus my student loans. That will be my next tackle but I am in the process of saving now until I get a comfortable amount then tackling the student loans, its not a lot. But I am glad that I was doing steps for a program and I didn't even know I was lol. Thanks!

So glad it's working out for you. Keep that momentum going and let your gazelle work for you. I'm sorry you lost your third job, but maybe you could pick up a side hustle to make additional money towards paying off the rest of your loans and other debts.

To far too many people, the term "budget" implies depriving themselves of . Not so. Setting a budget - then sticking to it - builds personal discipline and is showing your respect for the effort necessary to get that money in the first place. It isn't 'love' or 'worship'. It's respect. And it will pay off in your future. I guarantee it and I am living proof of that idea.

I don't get why, at ~3:30, you should attack the *smallest* debt first. Shouldn't you always go for the debt with the highest interest rate?

Psychologically, people need a win, and paying off something is that win. Personally I would also pay based on interest rate, and I have heard Dave say that's okay as long as you stick with it.

My budget is not like yours. For the past 36 years, my income is deposited into savings. Because in Rich Dad/Poor Dad, he said don't work for money. My house budget is taken from Savings, So in order to live, I take money from myself. It is a strange phycology, but it has forced savings as a priority. I still use the same budgeting excel file(originally Quatro pro until the company converted to MS office).

I'm new to this concept of money and I just want to ask, why should we give/donate money to other people? Don't we already give enough from paying our taxes? Isn't the government directing our taxes for the country and it's people?

Rachel, can you pls elaborate who to give money to? Make a video about this topic, I think it is very interesting. Growing in a middle class household I learned from my mom to guard my money for the future and/emergencies. My parents did give to our local church but I am having a hard time doing that. I come tonthe conclusiin that they receive enought money from others and I would rather give to those who really are in need. Then I want to give to that man who asks in the streets then I think I may end up being an enabler if he uses it for drugs. Can you share who you give money to?

I love ya Rachel. One point I want to make is that "a budget allows you to spend/ gives you freedom" is not fully true. If you have cut your spending down as much as you can and you still don't have enough income to put into the "kids activities" column of the budget or the "take out" column of the budget or the "date night" column of your budget.. .then thats not freedom. Its sad that you cannot do anything in those empty columns because there is no money in them. Thats just truth.
@Mississippian3 ай бұрын
After cutting all spending, it is not the budget taking away freedom if there is no fun money left over. It is thanks to budget, you can probably prioritize food and shelter over fun.

Should you budget " fun money" when you're paying off debt? Or you have to always stay home monthly until the debt is gone, and then you can start living life again ? 😢😂
@karenflom93524 ай бұрын
We had a small dining out budget when paying off debt and had small vacations - for our mental health you do need a night out once in a while but keep it reasonable. When you reach a milestone - one credit card down, or $10,000 paid off, etc.. then put a line-item in the budget to do something to celebrate. Then keep grinding on the debt!
@r_b59514 ай бұрын
Commenter karenflom had it right. 1. Set a goal. 2. Achieve that goal. 3. Treat yourself in some small way for that effort. That said, in my younger years I needed something more tangible than dinner to keep the momentum going. I mean, even if the dinner was great, I had nothing to show for it the next day. I needed something tangible that I could see weeks, or months later that made me think, "oh yeah, that was my treat to myself for: paying off a credit card, or saving $300 that month. I like that feeling and I want it again this week/month/etc." It just helped me keep the momentum going. But of course, the downside was that every time I treated myself I was putting the ultimate goal of being debt free a bit farther down the road...the same road I was going to have to walk regardless of how each individual step felt at the time. Good luck!

I have some small amount budgeted for fun, although I'm not in huge debt and I live in my own apartment, so the situation isn't very bad. I need something to keep going, especially while battling depression. Also, my main problem was emotional spending, so I could have a rush of dopamine every day. Now something small once a week. I get dopamine rush from saving every day 😅
