You should look up Operation Savannah, a conflict that started in the region that Russ is running through in the mid-1970s. Needless to say, the CIA was a main instigator and this ended up being a 27 year war and delayed the independence of Namibia.

Great video. I worked for the UN in Angola (1996-1997) in the south: small town called Matala (appr. 150 km east of Lubango). I can see the roads have improved a lot since. 😂 Good luck during your journey.

Today I did my first ever 100 mile bike ride, just 2.5 weeks after taking up cycling. By mile 80 I was seriously flagging but I kept thinking "1's and 2's boys, 1's and 2's". Got there in the end, partly thanks to you mad lads and your infectious attitude. Keep going brothers!
