I love that we are on our 4c transitioning journeys at almost the same time! It's been 5 months for me and I agree with everything you've said. On my first transition I was heat free and it was impossible. Even after I cut off the relaxed ends. Using the blow drier every two weeks has made a world of difference in time, softness, and breakage this time around. I probably would still use it at least once a month even after I am completely natural
@Tyiece
@Tyiece 6 жыл бұрын
Wow that's great. Why did you relax again and decide to go back natural now?
@SylesteHoskins
@SylesteHoskins 6 жыл бұрын
Tyiece I relaxed again because I was so self conscious about how short it was when I chopped off the relaxed ends. I felt like I needed straight hair so I could see length. And it took me a full 6 hours you did my hair because I didn't know what I was doing and thought 4c hair couldn't handle blow drying. But relaxers make my scalp dry, super flaky, and itchy. I also started to get bored with my straight hair and it won't hold a curl in this Florida humidity! And most of all, my 3 year old daughter told me she didn't like her hair and wanted straight hair like mine and her white friend at school. I really want her to love her hair! Now I know that I can use to reduce the styling time, I'm all good! I actually wash my hair loose, then section it in 4 to condition and detangle.

I'm 9 months post relaxer and I don't know what to do with it except keep it braided.😥 It's 4b-ish at the front and 4c at the back. I have to manipulate the 4b to look like 4c 'cause otherwise I'd look crazy walking around with 3+ textures on my head. I'm hanging on to my length like crazy.🙆 I'm planning on big chopping after the one year mark, maybe. Or after 1.5 years after. Don't even get me started on the shrinkage.🙃

I hear you. It took me a KZbin tutorial and an hour to get my transitioning hair in to a bun. Also can't get over how dry my new growth is. Protein treatments every 8 weeks has pretty much eliminated my breakage.

Hi Tyiece, your hair is exactly like mine. 1/4 inch growth per months, im 5 months post atm. Thin ends, long strands breaking (sometimes)...literally the same so its great to go on the journey with u. I dnt plan on going natural but i do do long stretchs (1 year stretches for 2 years). Keep going girl, its trying but its so rewarding. I love experiencing new growth n caring for it. Here for you girl x

The real issue with long term transitioning with 4C hair, it is not compatible with relaxed hair. You may have to big chop and go on a natural hair journey and learn to wear it and style it. I suppose that is why so many natural 4C folks go wigs and weaves while learning their Virgin hair. Also be careful to not get heat issues when using heat on the new growth. I have been natural, and the work is just as important as relaxed hair. Best to you.

U don't hav to always do the big chop. I've seen many women transition with out the big chop n wen they finally dside2 let those ends go they only have bout 3 inches to chop. Ther r a few ways to go bout n sum ppl do Xtreme big chops bcuz they don't Wana bear it anymore. I did my big chop in aug.2012 n I relaxed a month ago. Life Ben so much e.z. 4 me. That wuz my decision n I wuz very happy wit it. Very well said tho

Nice video I'm currently transitioning I'm 5 months post but I will be 6 months post in February maybe your texture got softer because that's your roots because remember the new growth is pushing out the relaxed hair so the new growth at 5 months post is going to be your ends maybe that's why they are so rough I can very much relate and your one of my favourite KZbinrs!!!!

Hey Tyiece...thx for the vid. I can relate: 1 - Time, because i am dealing with two textures as well (4 months post) it does take more time for me to detangle my hair. 2 - Washing, after 8 weeks i wash my hair every other week just for the simple fact that it takes so long to detangle (i can't tolerate this every week). 3 - Thin ends, likewise i do suffer from thin ends and i notice that once i've passed 10 weeks my ends look horrible. Gosh! I combat this by hiding my ends (buns, cornrows and twistrows). 4 - Length, my hair too seems to get shorter and i hate it. I don't wear my down either. 5 - Growth, honestly am not really sure how much i have, what i can say is that it varies. Ty based on your vid i think you have more that 2 inches (did you apply tension while measuring?). 6 - dryness, 4c hair tends to be so dry. I try to moisturize my new growth every 2-3 days. I realize thou that the relaxed hair then suffers as it gets limpy. 7 - i have trimmed my hair too it has made me so discourage at times with my current length. On Sat May 12, 2018 (tomorrow) i will me getting my relaxer - professionally done.
@Tyiece
@Tyiece 6 жыл бұрын
Yes I applied tension and use a ruler to measure. I forgot to insert the clip after I uploaded the video. Have a good relaxer day girl. Let me know how it goes.

Hey Tyiece, my relaxer when well. When i did the touch up i was 15 weeks post; and that was the best decision that i made. Please note that i have NEVER received a relaxer burn, but even then i could still feel it on my scalp (not sure if you get what a mean) but after that prolonged stretch (i normally relax 8-9 weeks) i felt nothing. I relax my hair in halves; which means i relax the first half then wash it out and do the other. When my the hairdresser said its time to wash it out i was like are you sure. I can't really say much new growth i had but my hair has grown significantly with this stretch. So from now on i will relax at 16 weeks (4 months). **Not sure how i can upload pictures.

Maybe you have low prosperity natural hair and thats why it wont retain mositure. This is my first time watching your videos but I think if you wash your hair with warm or hot water (or at least as hot as you're comfortable with) and then use the LCO method to moisturize your hair with it will feel good. (so put leaving in or light cream then a heavy cream and oil). Anyone else can try this but you should probably check if you have low prosperity hair first. Also try not to use too many oily products
