Ypuh ridiculous. There are some incredible bargains on Facebook marketplace and eBay. It’s complete nonsense that you need to be rich to cycle. It’s all about what you can afford, and you can’t expect a beginner to spend more than $750 on a bike. New tech is expensive, sure, but that doesn’t equal riding enjoyment. Go back 3 generations of bike and Shimano Tigard and 105 will be absolutely perfect for a learner to ride on and tinker with. Not everybody has to ride Dura Ace Di2!
@krlgrudzinski5 жыл бұрын
@@dsdf_fdp1858 You can't buy a "starter" bike with 105 for 500 bucks since whole 105 groupset costs about 400.
@honzohaberle66405 жыл бұрын
@@krlgrudzinski Of course you can. You just need to buy a used bike. My first road bike cost less than 500 bucks and came with complete Dura Ace and a carbon frame and it is still fun to ride. If you settle for 105, you can probably get something in the same price range that is a decade newer.

I'm a weekend rider so steel and vintage is where it is at, preferably Reynolds 853 of which I'm always in the hunt. I would only pay a pretty penny for a brand new Titanium as the used market is pretty thin and still expensive.

The raised chainstay was used on Haro MTBs back in the early 90s. Titanium is not really light tho but it does last as long time if the welds are good.
#22 itself may be a new company, but I’m pretty sure a lot of their people came from Serotta Cycles when it went bankrupt. Serotta had a lot of titanium experience. So, #22 has a lot of institutional knowledge.

My recommendation, if you haven’t already done so, is Waterford Bikes. They were originally the Schwinn Paramount Design Group before the Schwinn family sold their interest in the company and Schwinn PDG went independent and became Waterford Bikes. I own a Schwinn Paramount I bought a couple of years before the sale and It’s an outstanding bike and Waterford top level craftsmanship and ability to customize their frames to your body type and style of riding makes for some incredible bikes. If you have the coin they can make you a rolling work of art and if you just need a practical frame that has an excellent fit, fast, with excellent handling and ride quality they can do that too.
