I don't know what it's like now, but when I lived there back in the early 1990s, Cameroonian army personnel were a menace. I even read about at least one similar army massacre of civilians while we were there. The story we heard was that a lot of the regular army joes didn't get paid regularly, just got a rifle and a uniform. That's why they would set up shop at some bar on the edge of a town and shake down passing traffic for bribes. I lost count of the number of times some drunk dude in a uniform looked at my Identity Card upside down, while waving a gun in my face and asking for a "date." I'm surprised they even got ten years, though I agree with tablescissors that ten years in a Cameroonian prison is no joke.

And the submarine guy was obviously the killer since her partner knew where she was going that day and whom she would be with. So it's fairly easy to say, he did it. I mean, I can just imagine her partner calling the police to report her missing... Him: I'm calling to report my girlfriend missing. Police: OK what's her name, and when did you last see her sir? Him: Her name is Kim and it was a few hours ago, but I know she was going to meet up with the guy that built his own submarine, they were going out in the ocean in it together, she told me she would be home in time for dinner but that was three hours ago, and it's not like her to be late and not call me. 9:31 - "Authorities found 15 stab wounds on Kim's body." 10:24 - "To this day it's still unclear how he took Kim's life." So pretty sure we know how he did it. (Just saying.) He probably meant to say WHY he took Kim's life, that makes sense. Also, I highly doubt his original plan was to sink his submarine and take both of their lives. That makes zero sense because of this elaborate escape attempt. People that actually wish to delete themselves, wouldn't go to such lengths to escape from prison. They would simply find a way to end it wherever they were. Now, even if he had planned to escape so he could then get into his submarine and sink it with only himself on board, that's not even a logical plan since his submarine was in police custody since it's literally a crime scene. So I highly doubt he would have been able to not only gain access to it, but to then get a vehicle to bring it to the ocean aall without being caught. Just no.
@gameuniverse5973Ай бұрын
Not really pretty sure it said if you look at the case that she had blunt force trauma which means she could have gotten hit on the head hard killing her instantly with the stab wounds being post mortem
@Cuddly-CactusАй бұрын
@@gameuniverse5973 Pretty sure you missed the entire point of my original comment. So even with blunt force trauma to the head and face and neck areas, that only tells the HOW part of this crime. So the WHY as in the motivation is STILL unknown. If I had to guess, it was a crime of opportunity, and possibly one of sexual motivation. As in this man was presented with a young attractive woman that he had alone with him for an undetermined amount of time, so he had the opportunity, the means and the (typical) motive. This case doesn't revolve around the matter of which her death occurred, we are all left wondering the why her murder happened in the first place. And on a side note, it is astonishing that a man with such a high level of intelligence had no foresight at all. Which is not uncommon among serial killers. But still, a guy that was smart enough to build his own submarine, and other things, is still too dumb to realize that a journalist would go missing and then obviously be reported missing, still thought it was a good idea to kill her, dump her body in a body of water that he was known to frequent, and then come up with the most ridiculous and convoluted story, yet he still got arrested for her murder, and then he came up with an elaborate plan to escape from prison and ultimately failed, only to get sent right back again. It's just so incredibly stupid that it's laughable! (And I mean that he is the one I'm laughing at here, not her. She is a murder vicitim that did absolutely nothing wrong. Her death is a tragedy.)

The way this video is worded in some places I'm wondering if he used AI. He's had sponsored ads from AI companies before and admitted to using that to create those videos
@Cuddly-CactusАй бұрын
@@rinkincaid5470 Ah, I see, and well, I must say, that makes sense and since I've been using sponsor block and ad blocking for quite awhile now, so I do not see any ads nor sponsors. And so I see the videos without any of that sh*t so I'm inclined to give the creators the benefit of the doubt when they make seemingly innocent mistakes, but that clearly gives me an unrealistic POV when watching. So I thank you for pointing that out, because many folks like me literally do NOT get this information, especially if we subscribed to channels before they started using AI.
@rinkincaid5470Ай бұрын
@Cuddly-Cactus no problem! AI is becoming a huge issue because unless you can spot tiny discrepancies in voices and grammar, you assume the voice over is a real person when there's a high chance the KZbinr had AI make a script and use their voice. Voice overs can be really hard to tell if they're AI or not, but one give away is the robotic tone of the creators. And like you mentioned, if you're not even aware KZbinrs are taking sponsored ads from AI companies that makes it even more difficult. Plus why spend time and effort into a video if AI can do it all for you while people eat that content up? I really think this KZbinr uses AI for like all of his videos; he's too robotic and the fact he's even admitted to using AI to create entire videos really puts me off of his videos. But like I said, why put time and effort into content when you know people will eat that up?

@@louiscyphre2267 no, it's not. The case is actually interesting, it's well narrated and well researched, since it's such an obscure story. Plus, even though it wasn't exactly solved with Google Maps, there was a major role on using it for getting to know who was tax evading and where. I know tax evasion is a vitcimless nonsensical crime, that only exists because the government needs money to operate, of course, the story itself, despite not being "scary" or "disturbing" is interesting nonetheless and matches up with the title of the video.

The first video. As an army vet with some mental issues, I can promise you the treatment he was getting for is PTSD was extremely subpar. The VA health system is a joke filled with people working 9-4 and just there to collect a paycheck and get the benefits. To any vet that might read this, look around your area and see if there are any veterans organizations that are not connected to the VA. The people that work for those non profit organizations are generally there to try and help as much as they can. They can help with mental health, hunger, housing, mechanical repairs for your vehicle, repairs you might need to do to your home and a whole list of other things.

In story 1 the guy literally pulls a gun out and murders his two buddies over an argument and he only gets 35 years. He could have responded in a dozen other ways to that situation besides that yet he made a choice to kill these two guys. Really trying to wrap my head around that one. It doesnt matter that by the time he gets out it will be a world he doesn't recognize, he should never have the chance to see life on the outside again. If an argument sets you off bad enough to kill people you're not safe nor fit to be in free society.

@jasonmallory7183Ай бұрын
@MykeLewisMusic i actually did think about that honestly, maybe I should have clarified s little bit more. Now in that case if that's what happened then I am all for self defense. If I feel like m life might be in danger or my family then I see it as it's either me or them, shoot first and ask later. Unfortunately that detail wasn't mentioned in the story if that were the case. I even kept waiting when he said the guy was arrested and talked about his trial, to hear at reason given as to why he did it but nothing was said. I would like to find out more information on that case and if he was defending himself then I stand corrected!

Well he did have PTSD from bring a vet. It doesn't excuse what happened in the slightest but it does offer an explanation, he was likely triggered by something and his mind took him back to the war he'd been in. Might not have even recognized that they were his friends at that point. It's terrible how as much as we wanna praise and celebrate our military, we can't seem to be bothered to gaf about their mental health when they get back.

Justice has two heads, one of redemption and one of revenge. Historically speaking, most cultures have had revenge based justice systems. It seems like the best option and the closest to "true" justice, but.... It doesn't work. Crime has gone down around the world the more we move to redemption based justice and a lot of times this provides better long term healing for everyone. Just something to keep in mind
@jasonmallory7183Ай бұрын
@mxscouty yeah I thought about that too and you're right it's sad. It really does seem like a machine that once they're no use to them anymore they chew them up , spit them out and move on to the next recruits, it's BS for real. As someone who doest have PTSD I wild never pretend to understand that, my best friends wife had it and I lived with them for awhile. She was never aggressive, her episodes were more paranoid delusions, like thinking that there was something going on that wasn't, that everyone knew it but nobody would tell her, she was like that about everything and nothing could snap her out of it. So I could see that definitely factoring in .
