As a medical student who loves watching lots of med ed videos on KZbin, I found this video very insightful! It's been 4 years since my med school interviews but I still found this video really helpful, especially now that I'm starting clinical placements. Your channel deserves much more attention! I've been recommending it to students I'm helping with their application to medical school as the value you provide is immense. Thank you so much!

Very nice video and clear explanation and disclaimer within the video that this is not a hit piece, but I think potentially a less incendiary title might sound a little better.

Thank you so much for these videos they're so helpful for upcoming interviews! Are they likely to ask us questions directly about the last 4 topics or is it more for us to drop in our answers?
@drollie
@drollie 6 ай бұрын
Although they're not as recent as the first two, I do think they could come up. Especially something like the Francis Report considering how wide its impact was. But I think I'd agree with you that you'd be unlikely to get a direct question on one of them out of the blue but would be great to sprinkle into your answers.

@@drollieThank you :) Quick question....in the mmi (specifically Leicester) is it just a singular question/scenario/task for the one station that you have to talk about for 5 or 6 minutes or are there several questions like a follow up so your answers should only be 1-2 mins long?
@chaos_willow169
@chaos_willow169 5 ай бұрын
@@maiyasandhu6979 oh hey! (also applying to leic.!) generally there is two to four follow up questions! Best advice I've heard was be as concise as possible while getting as much detail in - don't cut your answer short on purpose but try not to ramble and you can always go back to questions if you have time at the end! best of luck :D

When was this film made?! Harold Shipman (arrested 1998!) but no mention of Letby?! Weak conclusions e.g, reference to Francis Report but omitted to mention that it brought about Duty of Candour legislation. Ethics cases can be highly complex and contentious as shown in the Charlie Gard case (and many others - see for example Ashya King) Better to refer applicants to 'GMC in Action: GMC Guidance Brought to Life' which features worked examples of ethical cases. Also 'BMA Core Ethics Guidance' is being updated and is due to be published next month (Feb.2024)
@drollie
@drollie 4 ай бұрын
Great resources signposted above, thank you. Haha yes, Harold Shipman is hardly a 'recent' topic but I do think it's such a landmark case that medicine applicants should be aware of the details. Lucy Letby is of course another tragic, more recent example.
