As a guy who just discovered I am (was) emotionally unavailable ... You just don't feel it its something wrong with you, even if the other is points it to You, I guess its hard to belive how someone can't understand even if its told to him but it is. I felt something is not quite right but then you think you just need time to adjust, you don't value the positive that much but the negative so much you use it in you mind to build a wall. Now after I ended the relationship i feel all the emotion and love to her and how toxic it was to her. Am I regretting I ended the relationship? No, as I couldn't make her happy and by that I was also not happy. And without the pain I now have I wouldn't know how much i have to invest in myself. So it hurts really much i hurt him and i have to let her go and by that maybe i lost her forever, but I also know I need time to find myself and she also needs time to heal. I just can hope in the future maybe our roads will cross again, but I know i did the most to her by letting her free from me right now :/

I used to like someone who was only clearly emotionally unavailable. He was always negative and he drained me out mentally and emotionally. He always brought confusion in my life, so I ended up cutting him off. Here’s my advice: Just because someone is going through something.. that IS NOT an excuse for that person to hurt you or lead you on. If a person is draining you out then cut that person off. You can’t change someone. If your crush is emotionally unavailable then GET OUT. (Depending your situation)

He's very emotionally unavailable and all these points apply and myself being very emotional and my love languages being quality time and physical touch it was so hard to make it work. ERROR: "Lack of deep and meaningful emotional relationships"... As a child of a Covert Narcissist, I have always BEEN open and vulnerable, willing and eager to engage, connect, and grow deep with people. Problem: due to my mother's isolating me from my entire family and from normal friendships,... I DID NOT DEVELOP THE SOCIAL SKILLS, scientists prove that the BRAIN misses the early development of these skills, then, does not recover them... one has to LEARN them, but they struggle... THIS DOES NOT MEAN I AM EMOTIONALLY UNAVAILABLE! Quite the contrary! I meet men who ARE! 🙂

They are emotionally unavailable. I already knew but I wanted to make sure I was labeling it correctly. I’ve never been in a relationship so I was still unsure. They don’t ignore me but they are quick to dismiss other people’s opinions or feelings as in if they make someone feel bad in accident they’ll just brush it off as an accident and just keep doing how they do. I had to confirm because sometimes its hard for me to tell when someone is emotionally unavailable or just a selfish/ inconsiderate person. They definitely do #5. I thought that was just how some people are because I’m a very open person with everyone I know. I don’t have many deep relationships but I’m willing too. It’s just I don’t know that make people that are as open. I just end up resenting people that aren’t because the relationship feels lopsided like they really don’t want me to know them.

I learned how to be emotionally unavailable from my mother. and emotionally abusive from my father when I was a very small child. My question would be, is being a adult survivor of childhood emotional abuse and neglect the same as being a total jerk? or maybe like a complete asshole. My whole life the question was always whats wrong with you? and never what happened to you? The reason I am emotionally unavailable is because I have served a life sentence in a prison of shame for the crime of being born. and in that prison all the doors lock from the inside. That's what being emotionally unavailable feels like.

I love being alone, hanging out by myself, going out to eat myself, essentially doing everything by myself so there’s that. Sometimes I see others with friends and I think about how great it would be to have friends but tbh I just don’t care that much. If I keep on this path of loving my loneliness so much I might rot.

This describes my ex gf perfectly. She kept saying I was emotionally unavailable because I wasn't up her ass 24/7. She legit was my friend for 2 years first, knew I was a single father and after a year together we moved in together. She started getting jealous of my kids.

I had a crush on someone this year but this video pretty much confirmed it. I cut ties with them and blocked them. I personally don't like giving my all to someone and keep me hanging. Its unfortunate but I have to watch out for myself. The last text was them asking me about an outing I was going to and guess what, left me hanging and I wasnt gonna wait 🙃

Another sign that I know myself using is mixed signals and faking emotions and facial expressions, im constantly playing hot and cold. One day I will be super loving to get them on the hook and they next day I will act cold towards them. Then when I notice they pull away I will turn up the flirting only for when they eventually reciprocate turn away again. It is kinda miserable knowing that it is impossible for me to have a real relationship. Most of the time I try to justify my behaviour that I do towards others, toying with their emotions etc. This way I never feel bad about it. But I just feel like I cannot have a deep connection with anyone, fault lies with my own insecurities, even tho deep down I want one hence the mixed signals.

That's really messed up especially if your in a relationship doing that 😢.

Bold of you to asume all people are trustworthy. I feel trapped in relationships and like someone is constantly pushing me to do things I am not ready for. I especially hate when someone starts to strangle me with talk about future or meeting their parents after 2 or 3 months of relationship. It is too soon and I mean you don't really know someone after 2 months. I've been hurt and betrayed in all types in relationships. I've learned that I can only truly count on myself. When I was going through thick and thin only few family members were on my side. When I have negative emotions I need to pull away to process them on my own. Talking about that with someone only increases my anxiety will they tell that later to someone what is bothering me or use that againts me later in an argument. No wonder I've built the walls around. When you keep someone on a distance it will hurt less if they try to hurt you in any way.

That's opposite for me also toally understandable. If you're dating for a few months and you both like each other your most likely going to want to introduce them to family. If you don't it'll be like their ashamed of being with you or don't want you to meet their family that's normal. You can still get to know someone after a couple of months and still introduce the parents. Yes and talking about the future to much I've been there before. Just trying focusing on the present helped me a little 😅.

I've self isolated for so long now that I dont talk to anybody enough to even develop a crush. Being bullied in high school helped push me away from people, and I ended up with depression from it. Being bullied for expressing emotions made me cold. Not doing this for sympathy, I'm just curious if that's normal.
@achi74403 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's normal. If you're being bullied for expressing ur emotions, then naturally, u start being cold to ppl out of resentment and fear. U also have a hard time trusting ppl, so u easily push them away, making u feel lonely and depressed
@lyrah63603 жыл бұрын
Ive had experience with being bullied when I was young. It gets better when you get older trust me. Im in college now and I went through same thing as you. You will learn how to love yourself, develop boundaries with narcissistic people and open up again to different forms of love friendships/romantic. I highly recommend watching Lisa A. Romano. She is a great life coach. Good luck sending virtual air hugs 🤗 ❤️

I don't really agree with the compassion one I agree with all the others but for me I feel uncomfortable crying sometimes but if my friend was crying I would support and have compassion for them. With my mental illness it's like i am kind and compassionate to everyone else but myself

I reviewed a past relationship I unilaterally ended two years ago. I checked off 5 of the 6 blocks. I chose correctly. If you can do at least 2/3’s of this list, get out while you can.

Even if someone is emotionally unavailable, can they still change? I mean, it's not their fault that they're emotionally unavailable right? They can still be helped right?

I have the best crush I have ever had. It is so good I don’t want to tell her, since I’m 99% sure she rejects me. And in order to protect myself from a broken heart my body destroys my feelings for her within a week.
