Ford has said in interviews that he doesn't "hate" his role as Han. He just doesn't have an emotional connection to the character like he does with his role as Indiana Jones. He wanted Han killed off in the original trilogy because he felt there was nothing left for Han to offer the story. He felt Han's story arc was completed in A New Hope. If he "Hated" the role, he wouldn't have come back for episode 7. When asked if he got emotional when he put on the Han Solo outfit again after all these years, he replied "No.I got paid."

Most of them seemed to be just screwed over by George Lucas. On the other hand, I really don't think Harrison Ford hates Han. He just felt it'd give the characters a real sense of danger if he was killed off in ROTJ, and from a filmmaking prospective, I don't disagree. I love Han Solo but his character didn't really have a good role in ROTJ. Look at his Twitter, Han Solo and Indiana Jones are all he talks about.

I think your right about. Again it was George Lucas way of directing. YOu could say lots about his directing abilities, but it was his idea that were the great thing. He was kinda bad executing this idea. It did work in the first movie, but everyone agrees that Empire strikes back is better. I think Harrison Ford wanted directing on how to push buttons in the Falcon, but George just said, push any button your want. But Harrison wanted the same type of directions as in many Star Trek shows, where the actors just dont push button but its actually the same buttons. Lawrence Kasdan did what Harrison Wanted in the Empire Strikes Back. So after the first movie you want see this strange, just pushing buttons. The buttons pushing in all other Star Wars movies (Except maybe the sequel trilogy? I aint sure of those) they not randomly push buttons. There is a specifik button to start, and fly, and shoot and so on.

He loved ANH & ESB but hated "Return of the Jedi" because of the ewoks and wrote a letter to Lucasfilm about it. Jake Lloyd is a truly sad story. He was a little kid and did not deserve the hate he got. Lucas is to blame for all of it. For starters, for such a prominent role in the movie, he should have picked a GREAT child actor. (Check out the ending to The Champ if you don't believe they exist) Instead he picked Lloyd based on.... I don't know what. I didn't see Lloyd do anything that a thousand other children couldn't​ have done and he did it worse than some. But this is more about Lucas and his inept direction and his stilted, ridiculous dialogue. After spending the first part of his career earning nothing but praise, you can see that by the time The Phantom Menace rolls around, he's obviously been getting high on the smell of his own farts for so long that he just believes that he shits fucking gold and nothing he does can be touched and will receive naught but praise. Indeed even at the time, TPM was seen, at least initially by most, as a great movie, not just a good one, but not by everyone and thus the cracks in Lucas's​ armour of self importance began to show themselves. His direction, his screenplay, his vision for the franchise ruined Star Wars. He needs​ the other people that were involved in making the original trilogy a success to begin with to check and balance his bullshit otherwise as we've seen, he just goes right off the rails and up his own ass, none of which is the fault of Lloyd. So in conclusion, like any General that loses a battle due to his orders being followed and those decisions being what costs the battle, the blame falls squarely on George Lucas's slumped over shoulders.

I think the biggest problem is that George Lucas has no idea how to direct. Especially with kids, unless they're prodigies, they need lots of directing. Jake could have done a great job, but when all your directing comes down to "be happy", "be excited" etc, what can you do? And the dialogue was just awful.

His acting wasn't bad by any stretch... he may not have been Gilbert Grape but he was far less cheesy and more sincere than Culkin in Home Alone and everyone went mad for that kid. Long live the Lloyd. Side ramble: I don't blame Lucas, people seem to criticize his directing a lot, but he was never really a director was he? He was a writer who became a CGI buff who dabbles in Consulting/Producing. I will never forgive star wars fans for what they did too poor jake lloyd i dont know about you guys but when i was a kid i loved the prequels they were star wars just as much as the OT was. Still to this day i will never understand how people can hate george lucas for giving them what they loved. Also if a prequel hater is reading my comment just remember what your so called favorite jedi knight said. "I can feel the conflict within you let go of your hate"- Luke Skywalker ROTJ. People must let go and accept the prequels as star wars because they are star wars.

i met david prowse at the first salt lake comic con and liked him i got his autograph and everything, he told me that he enjopyed being in the suit of vader, however he did tell me he hated george lucas because george lucas disrespected him as well as didn't tell him about his overdubed voice and he told me that at the end of return of the jedi, george lucas banned him from star wars conventions because somehow he offended lucas, which he has no idea how he did that. he also told me he had no intention to offend lucas

the thing about Jake Lloyd... prior to his arrest, he was at an Indianapolis comic-con.... he was saying how much of a good experience, and that he still kept in touch with George Lucas. (which I don't doubt the process of filming was). but he seemed perfectly fine... that all scars healed... a month or so later, that happened...

Honestly I don't think young Anakin ever should have been in the films to begin with. The first film should have been about Obi-Wan training Anakin as a Padawan. The second film should have been the point where his training ended and the two were equals and more like close friends instead of master and student. Finally, the third film would have been pretty much what we got with Anakin's fall from grace.

yes there is someone you missed out- Anthony Daniels hated his role as c3po and he also hated the late Kenny Baker. they wouldn't even be in the same room together for a party or convention. Also Mark Hamill was not impressed that he was seen as second best to solo.
