Very interesting and informative video. I wish there were many more like this one aimed at all immigrants, not just those from the USA, so that they have realistic first-hand information.

hmm thank you for you feedback, it's smth for me to think about. It's just because of my recent move from America I am still triggered from that and compare unintentally everything to my last experience. However, I lived in other countries as well and can give more general view on things as well. I will try to incorporate that angle as well :)

As someone that has 1/2 of her family that resides in Spain and has personally lived there, I would say pickpocketing is a major issue in Barcelona. The rest of Spain does not have the same safety issues.

Yes agreed, and that's sad. It was a whole performance when my phone got stolen in the cafe in Barcelona. I couldn't believe the level of skills those pickpocketers have, really pro.

Very few people take "siesta" 😅. The truth is that workers usually have 8 hours of works each day and in some places, specially shops, they do part time with a long rest time so that they can end at 8 pm or so. If you do office work it is 1 hour or even less. Also I have been living in Barcelona for almost 50 years and nobody stole me or broke in my house, so yeah I have seen things but if you take some basic precautions it is dificult that something happens to you.

Please, I’m so tired of hearing that everyone in Spain gets 2 to 3 (3 hours!!!) of break time at work! That only happens mainly in the hospitality industry, but not all of us Spaniards work in that sector! Nobody, absolutely nobody, gets that much time off. The normal thing is to take a one-hour break for lunch and then get back to work.Of course, it's not just northern Spain that's not a desert, and other generalizations you make are just as careless. It's pretty risky to generalize like this in a country like Spain, which has such a huge diversity in climates, landscapes, cultures, and people that it could almost be considered a mini-continent itself.

When you say naps, are you referring to the closing of shops, banks, etc., at 2-4 p.m.? People are not sleeping, they are eating. Foreigners confuse the lunch break in Spain with the nap, and they believe that everyone is sleeping, it is a stereotype.

Hi Eva, I didn't say anything about naps. I meant siesta as a break in the middle of the day that some shops, restaurants or even museums have. Whether they sleep, eat or spend time with their friends/family I don't know. But it's a thing. And this is unusual for people outside of Spain 🙂

The noise!😂 We live in the middle of a city in Galicia, and people are always celebrating something. It annoyed me at first but now I'm happy people are having fun.
