The fabric is beautiful and contrasts with the desert colors. It will make a great cushion for the cob/ rocket stove bench. That's my guess. I loved Jessica's smile when she show cased the fabric

ALOHA to both of you Green Dream Desert Homestead Project...yay, getting a lot of progress done, hooray also with the kids - Crew and Lluvia they are such good pets taking care of the 3 of you with Peter, Jess's brother and Jim, such hard caring loving workers on that rocket mass heater. Bravo, Jessica chose a awesome color-schemed pattern of material as a cover for the cob bench in the dome. Enjoy seeing wonderful natural cushions loads of toil and soil going into your home warmth and tenderness...keep on ''truckin you all ..'' ciao

Crow had a big ol' gopher snake like that cornered near our back steps once. It was reassuring that mayyyybe he will just keep his distance from a rattler and bark if it gets in the yard. Bench is looking awesome! It's interesting how people in comments seem to just type opinions about your work without actually watching the video. People are odd.

cob expands or shrinks after packing it in?..... i guess you can place wedges after it hardens... I could also putting some posts up along the bags to the joists. I think some blocks/bricks with paired wedges on top of the bags would be the way to go. You can then backfill with cob.

That is going to be such an incredible feature for your home and so very necessary with that type of construction. I can see your entire family cozied up on it this Fall and winter! You'll have to start off by claiming it for just you folks or I guarantee you, the doggies will be spread out on it leaving you no room at all. Lol...we all know how long those boundaries work with " fur babies" ;)

Thanks for putting up Lluvia name up because I could never remember how to spell her name, She chases the birds like my dog, be thankful she does not bark at them my dog does, sometimes I have to call her. The rocket mass heater is looking great cant wait to see what Jessica does to the finished project. I thought the fabric would be for curtains although that would be too simple an idea for Jessica. Thanks for the video.

I'm concerned about so much weight being added on top of thin sheet metal ductwork. Do the products of combustion escape as gases through the ductwork in addition to the heat? When you push on this ductwork, the slight pressure of your hand deforms it. If the weight of your couch bends the sheet metal and you aren't aware that the seams or joints have separated, you could end up with carbon monoxide seeping through the couch into the air you are breathing in your house. As you know, CO is a poisonous gas that is odorless, so there might be a possibility you'll be laying on your nice warm couch sometime, take a nice nap, and that will be the last nap you ever take. I think it would be advisable to install at least two CO detectors in the house and keep in mind that they are not always reliable. I hope you will reconsider this part of your project, because I suspect the possible risks outweigh the potential benefits. If you want to make certain you do not inadvertently turn your house into a fatal gas chamber by using experimental technology, you might want to invest in proven technology such as a wood burning stove. In case you run short of wood, you could have a backup system using a propane tank just outside the house with a properly vented emergency heater inside the house.
@robertfraser5994
@robertfraser5994 Жыл бұрын
Home inspectors, HVAC repairmen, and gas company inspectors check for CO leaks using a hand-held CO detector. Buying one might be a good investment to avoid a fatal incident. You could check your entire system for leaks, but probably only the exposed areas. I'm not sure a handheld CO detector would be able to sniff out any CO that was being defused through the materials of your couch.
