One thing that was neglected in the retelling of Junko is that by now, all of those tried for her murder have served their sentences and walked free. Not all of them stayed free, but only one of four are currently imprisoned. Miyano is currently free. Minato was arrested for attempting murder again in 2018. Watanabe is likely free again as well as nothing else has been written about him. Ogura was released and beat a man for four hours, threatening to kill him as he had killed before. He claimed he knew how to get away with it too. In short, they should've gotten life sentences. It really makes you reconsider wanting to take a trip to Japan. Plus ofc the cannibal that was made into a celebrity. (Not sure if this will be taken down but I think it should be put out there)

Honestly this is why I don't trust any police or justice system. A vast majority of it is corrupt and no one gets the justice they deserve. Every one of those men should have been given life in prison or a death sentence. What they did was beyond heinous and disgusting.
@tablescissors
@tablescissors 3 жыл бұрын
@@brooklynnbailey4356 It’s not “corrupt”...the males were JUVINILES, Japan does not have a harsh prison system (which are usually criticized in places like the USA), and it’s “attempted murder” charge. Furthermore, rape, in general, around the globe, has a small sentence. If that bothers you, then try to REFORM IT. One could also listen to this story (and so many others like it) and decide that all MALES are corrupt and untrustworthy. I am glad that we’ve finally begun to link animal torture with psychopathy. I hope sexual assault and rape will one day also be looked at the same way.
@brooklynnbailey4356
@brooklynnbailey4356 3 жыл бұрын
@@tablescissors 😂 not corrupt?? Police have been killing innocent people for years and years. An officer in the US walked free after shooting a 3 year old girl in the eye and then claiming "self defence" AGAINST A 3 YEAR OLD. This is what I'm talking about with corruption. Police are allowed to walk for nearly anything and we ARE trying to change that in the US. Have you even seen our news? People have been protesting for MONTHS now and we are still barely getting any justice. You're right by the fact that people who do stuff like in this story are absolutely psychopaths, but at what point do you determine they CAN'T be helped?? Because what they did was absolutely sick and vile.

If you ever do another Yakuza video, could you talk about the Hello Kitty murder? It's horrifyingly similar to the torture & murder of Junko Furuta but not as well known.

I wonder if it's ever hard for the youtubers to narrate the stories like Junko's? Just for me listening to it, I had to pause a few times to catch my breath and calm down, especially when they were describing the torture methods. Ntm I tear up superrr easily whenever a loved one of the victims says something emotional. I wonder if it's harder to narrate than listen or easier because you're so focused on narrating? 🤔

Firstly RIP Junk Furuta, I hope her soul has found peace. The boys that committed those atrocities against her should have been tossed into a pit so deep they never saw daylight again. Secondly and less important....the pronunciations in this episode are giving me life! Joel clearly took his time to make sure he had these down. Big ups dude

“Us” vs “Them” is exactly what society is encouraging by-and-large these days. It was extremely refreshing to hear someone comment on its ineffectiveness. Unless, of course, violence /is/ the desired outcome. Certainly, such patterns, are not new. Then ask...whose really behind the destruction? Beyond the everyday man? And what do they have to gain?

Shot I forgot how graphic Junko story was. That one is always so sad, it's too bad that the cops didn't look through the house to make sure they were not hiding her. But I since I don't know the law of that land I can't really say what they should have done. Also the whole Yakuza senpai at the end... I was not expecting that lol. Love hearing some more Yakuza or any other gang stories, these are very interesting. Keep it up

To clear up any confusion: hanafuda isn't a dice game, it's a card game. Nintendo, long before electronics existed, sold hanafuda cards. Hell, they still do to this day, and it's a popular game for children and adults to play together at family gatherings.

Hi LetsRead, by now, I've listened to numerous podcasts of yours from start to finish. But in this one, for the first time, I really had to stop midway on Junko Furuta's story. It truly is very sad and angry to listen to. Anyhow, thanks for sharing.
