@@SceneShifts But how do you put them into your brush palette? I can find the brushes once they're in there, but not sure how to add them in there, and it's important.

i don't understand the point of this method of painting? why not just paint a watercolor and import the photo?
@PaintingDigitally7 жыл бұрын
Hi Charlene ... of course you can paint a watercolor and import the photo. But to do that you need to be able to paint with brush and paper, and if you are a watercolor painter you will know that watercolor is a very difficult medium to learn and become proficient in. Digital painting is much more forgiving as you can easily make corrections and adjustments. Digital also has many possibilities that are either very difficult or impossible with traditional painting (use of filters, transforms and overlays for example). It's just a different medium ... there are pros and cons, as David Hockney demonstrates.

I think for certain purposes it is useful, but not for fine art. For maybe using in a digital application, where you can't use a painting, because the application doesn't lend itself to that media. Like say, making video games with watercolor effects, you'd be surprised, some do have that. You can't just do original oil paintings for every scene.

@@roxannetamberen2140 Well I have a number of digital watercolor paintings that I have shown to artist friends of mine (several of them are professional painters) and they were astonished that they had been done digitally. The creative process is identical (or can be) and so I really don't see why a painting done in this way would not be considered to be fine art. There are issues regarding ownership though as it is of course very easy to print multiple copies: but the solution to that is to either print and then destroy the digital file, or sell the digital file with the print. At any rate, anyone who makes a copy will not have the artist's dated signature on the image.
