Why can you explain to me why it’s an incredible play? I’m so confused why would her mixing them up make her seem white?? 😭
@Crossark13 жыл бұрын
@@starstartheopposite4765 I think part of it is mixing up two very different bands with superficially similarities (wink wink) and part of it was *how* she asked it. The whole, “Are they the ones who,” way of asking just has a certain “sing me the song of your people” energy that normally wouldn’t be so noticeable or carry any specific connotation, but that in this situation feels a lot like an out-of-touch white person who’s maybe been sheltered from a lot of pop music lol. This was amusing for me as a person of color. All of my siblings and I have incredibly "white" names: Rachel, Jennifer, Danielle, William. Even my dad has a "white" name: Frederick. Other than my dad, we all sound incredibly "white" as well. I frequently get people who are baffled by my appearance if they've previously only communicated with me via phone. I don't have traditionally "black" taste in pop culture or anything like that, either. And I think that is mostly just indicative of the places people grow up. I didn't grow up inner city with those "stereotypically black" cultural norms. Actually, my mother, who is incredibly white in most ways, is "blacker" than I am in her speech patterns because she did grow up in inner city areas around black culture. I think I'd fair incredibly well in this kind of a scenario, not even properly fooling anyone because, outside of my skin tone, I'm very, very white. (And being mixed as I am, I can claim either side as I choose.)

Cody proved many times he wouldn’t know this, but definitely isn’t the best to go off names when black parents sometimes name their kids with ‘white’ names so that when they apply for jobs, on resumés they seem not black and get a higher chance of consideration. And to bring it back to be more light hearted… it’s a game show, Cody. Why would it be that easy. Funniest video with you guys definitely. The jokes were hilarious I loved it!

I find this both hilarious and painful to watch because I feel so bad for all of the people in the video. The premise of the game demands for them to make assumptions about someone's race and god I can't stop cringing thinking about it.
@scr1be_iv3 жыл бұрын
Fair enough, but I wouldn't feel *too* bad... there's a whole application process for each Jubilee video where people learn about the video's premise, and then fill out a form specifically for that video, often attached with their own minute long audition tape/written essay where they say why they'd be a great fit, their experiences, etc. They knew exaactly what they were getting into, lol

Yo they're dumb if they thought they could figure out the black person based on names. Like the production crew was going to pick someone named Deshawn or Snoop Dogg for the black person while all the white people were named like... Kayeligheliehg and Braxton-Hicks. That would be kind of funny if the black person WAS Snoop Dogg.
