Jail is more just a temporary place while you are waiting to go to court to find out if you're getting released, staying in jail for longer, or going to prison. This is exactly why I say that all judges, prosecutors, and police officers should go to jail for 90 days prior to getting the job. It gives them a first hand understanding of what they're putting those who are on trial through before sentencing them.

Tbf she helped expose a pretty big problem in that jail: Their terrible treatment of sick people. As a med student I’m very aware of how the prison system disproportionately has disabled/ill people. They need to be treated humanely. If a jail can’t even get dietary requirements right it’s pretty telling
