A nice large school of pygmy corys would be rad. They dont have great colors but their behavior is 10/10.

@I love cube tanks but usually they are usually on the smaller side like 10-20 gallons so a 60 seems more of what I want
@danieljensen4797Ай бұрын
Nice Tank! I look forward to seeing it develop. You could add honey gouramis for a fish appropriate for a 2' tank and add a pop of yellow. Or in keeping with your channel's mission, add some Apistos, Rams, Laetacara, or Kribs. All should do fine with plants.

If you want to stay with the nano fish theme, you can get Japanese Rice Fish (Medaka), Pygmy Corys, Ember Tetras, Chili Rasboras If you want to go slightly bigger, you can go with a pair of Apistogramma, or Bolivian Rams, add some regular Corys. I would avoid any other Rams because they are not as hardy and require higher temps (84 deg usually) Either way you go I would add some wood to the tank to lower PH a bit and give the fish more cover. Since it's smaller fish, look for a nice piece of spider wood, then boil it for a while to kick start the water logging process and keep it submerged in a tote or bucket until it is submerged. You really don't need a huge piece, but you definitely want to get something that will go about 2/3 of the height and have it come out maybe 2/3 of the depth towards the front. I would personally put it in the back corner where the two black panels meet and have it look like it's exploding toward you from that corner. If you can't find the perfect piece, just grab a bunch of smaller pieces and some Super Glue GEL and glue it together. Once the glue gets wet, it's inert and not harmful to animals.

There's a nice fish store up in Cannonsburg. It's just outside of the Pittsburgh area. Anyways, last time I was there, they had a big planted tank with sand substrate that looked alive and natural. The plants were like big blades of grass and were swaying with the water current, and it all looked so natural. While the upper and mid water column had big fish lurking about, on the sandy substrate were Sturbai Corydoras... like 20 of them. These little bros were schooling together and constantly scouring the floor of this huge tank as one big school... it was one of the coolest tanks I've seen.

Nice project! No heater for the cardinal tetras? I thought those required warmer temperatures than the regular neon tetras but then when does it stop being a low tech tank?
@CichlidBrosАй бұрын
Oh there’s small heater back there, blends in some

I have this same aquarium. It’s drilled it for a sump. There are currently a large group of tetra in there. I’m thinking of swapping the tetra with the yellow labs in the 75g.

love that base! but it's difficult to see which pieces of wood supports go to the floor, vs to the outside square pieces - is there a little map of the 24" square layout showing the supports?
